Some of you may remember me Tweeting this: "Ugh... Every time I look at my nails, I doubt I can eat the amount I want to vomit!!! I hate this mani"....Yeah... it was in regards to this monstrosity...
For today I have an old color of mine re-visited. I remember posting about this color waaay back when I first started blogging. The pictures were terrible, so was my application and the shape of my nails. Also, I was coming into my own writing style and still figuring out different polish finishes, descriptions etc.... Those were the days lol.
Well today I knew I wanted to wear Elsbeth's Rose again and I had a clear picture in my head of what I wanted to do with the color. The fates had something else in store for me.... A terrible FAIL of a Fauxnadicure.... That ruined my beautiful Pink base! Grrrr! Gird your loins...
Ugh.... And there you have it.... My idea was to create shadows of the flower with the layering of the stamps but something about it just did not translate at all. Instead it ended up looking sloppy and forced. I tried really hard to like it and I could not bring myself to do so lol.
Now, about the color itself. Elsbeth's Rose is a stunning soft Pink creme with slight Lavender undertones and a soft Silvery micro sparkle that gives the polish a pearly finish. There is a slight dustiness to this color. The formula on this is kinda thick and a bit gluggy. I had to be very careful with application and keep my hand as light as I could to avoid streaking and unevenness. If you can get over that fact the color is really beautiful and flattering on it's own and I so regret adding the stupid stamps!
It was overcast today :( |
I actually was wearing the color by itself for a few hours because I wanted to go hang out with my momma so I just did the Pink base and ran out the door. The whole time I kept staring at my hands thinking "I don't know if I should stamp this..." Lesson learned....
Final Verdict? FAIL tab for sure!

I don't think this is fail at all! I actually quite like it =D
ReplyDeleteTry doing the black first so it doesn't overlap the white
ReplyDeleteFAIL?? Are you kidding me it's still cute, may not have the "shadow" effect you wanted but its still cute ^_^
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is a fail at all. I really love it.
ReplyDeleteFail? Not really, it looks pretty with stamping too. :)
ReplyDeleteOuch! This reminds me of my Valentines day mani..... I hated it so much that I didn't even take pictures! Beautiful color, though!
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI really love this mani!
Love nail polish color!!!
:)
I don't see anything wrong with this manicure, I like the contrast black & white.
ReplyDeleteAw, that's too bad. The base color is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLovely shade, and I see what you were trying to do with the rose shadows. Don't give up! I think if you stamped the black rose first, and then the white one it might have more of the shadow effect. Also, perhaps using gray instead of black? I would love to see a second attempt at this.
ReplyDeleteI love you & the base colour..and the attempt?
ReplyDeleteIt's ok not every stamp can be a winner!
You are so cute. Even your failed attempts are better than my best efforts at nail art!! What sucks even more is my nails are totally going through a rebel phase and are peeling like crazy!! I went naked for a week till I cracked yesterday and figured even painted messes are better than looking at my naked messes. If you have any advice for me to help shape my nubs up, I welcome it!! You are my guru!! And I think your nails are beautiful no matter what you do!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it came out that bad!
ReplyDeletethe great thing about nail polish though is that you can ALWAYS change it :)
it is not bad as you think. it could be better, if you stamp the black rose first and then the white. i would give to it a chance, cuz the idea is great! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I saw that tweet. And I was expecting something reaaally awful! But the stamping is not that bad... Maybe you should've used the white over the black, and instead of black, perhaps gray nail polish..
ReplyDeleteThe color is lovely!
;****
it's not the worst, i mean it's not vomit inducing like you said it was!! hah we all have fails, that's the whole fun of trying something different you never know if you'll have a winner or a fail! nice to see swatches of this color i think at one point i had like 5 bottles of this color from an ebay auction i won i think i'm down to 3 bottles, and i still haven't worn it yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a total fail... only thing I'd change is to stamp black fist then the white over it
ReplyDeleteIt's not a fail...simply due to the use of the word(?) "gluggy."
ReplyDeleteaw I think it's still cute. =D
ReplyDeleteI liked the stamp on your pointer finger! At least your color combo worked, I made an awful choice the other day that made my male coworker go "Eww." Embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteIt's still a really cute mani. The middle finger looks perfect. I can see what you were trying to attempt but I think you did a great job.
ReplyDelete*hugs* it's not so bad.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even gotten into stamping yet.
A fail? Where? I sure must be seeing something you don't, since I find it to be really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are too nice to me!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think it turned out amazing(: The stamp is so nice and crisp. The base color is gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteDef. not a fail! This is soo pretty <3
ReplyDeleteLol you're too hard on yourself. I think we all are, but it looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Before & after!
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful. not a fail at all!
