Today I have some lovely pairings using the Finger Paints Special Effects Collection. I know it's been said a million times before, but, OMGGGG I am so excited to see FLAKIESSS in stores and available to us normies loool! But seriously though, I am so happy to be able to have a selection of beautiful flakies readily available to us... These are flakies I feel like I can wear because I didn't pay so much for it that it feels like a relic now... Aheemmm Nfu.Oh #52 I'm looking at you. The only downfall to these is that they are limited edition and available only at Sally's Beauty Supply Stores. Hurry up and grab them why they are around!!
Yes, they all look the same in the bottle. Flakies are the ultimate definition of the whole "don't judge a book by a cover" thing. I mean how boring does this picture look in the reader, lol? But these... These things right here... Are worth their weight in
To see some awesome combinations with these pretties just keep on readin'
Finger Paints Flashy over Julep Maggie
Hello Gorgeous!! Flashy is mainly Reddish/ Coppery flakes in a kind of clear- milky base. These don't really have a strong color shift and remain mostly reddish until you move your nails to extreme angles. This is the clear- based equivalent to Zoya Chloe pretty much.
Finger Paints Flecked over China Glaze Glittering Garland
Flecked is the most amazing Green to Blue and visa- versa flakie. If this were to have an equivalent it would be Zoya Maisie or Opal. I am absolutely smitten with this combination. The Green flakes looked like little crushed Emeralds on my nails. AMAZING!
Finger Paints Twisted over Julep Chloe
Ahhhh!!! OMG this is just so amazing! Twisted is the perfect mix of all different kinds of flakies that create the coolest effect ever. I can't even fully make out exactly all the colors that come out in this flakie because there are just so many of them at once. My eyes can't get enough of this. I believe this is like a clear-based Clairvoyant/ Unicorn Puke.Finger Paints Asylum over Julep Trina
Asylum is a pretty even mix of Red and Blue flakes that do not really seem to have an obvious color shift. I have to comment on how sparse the flakes were on this one. Also, for some reason the base of this flake seemed extra milky... IDK, maybe it was just mine but I found that a little odd. I still like this a lot. This combination in particular really sold me on this flakie.
Finger Paints Motley over My Nameless Franken
This may not have been the best combo to try to showcase this flakie because my base color was so similar to the darker Blue flakes but this is really beautiful in person... Anywho Motley is a mix if Blue and Green flakes that don't really have a color shift like Flecked does. Much like Asylum, the flakes in Motley are also very sparse.
And there you have it! These are pretty amazing. These do seem to be less packed than some other flakies out there but that's not really a problem. These were perfect at Two coats of the flakies over whatever base I was wearing. You really cannot beat inexpensive flakies that are readily available.... Well .. Just about... Seriously girls!! Run out and pick up at least one while they last! The effect these create is like nothing else and it will make you stare at your nails sooo much!
Which ones are you loving?
Wow they are all amzing!
ReplyDeleteAsylum in general ive read has a more milky base so it isn't just yours. Also you have a typo in the motely section. I'm positive you meant shift lol. My sally's didn't get these at all. My father that is 200 miles away from me picked up twisted for me. Now impatiently awaiting February to arrive so I can go visit for my birthday and get my polish<3
ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous!! I'm seriously dying to get my nails on some:/ will you be interested in doing an international swap for them?

Great effects! :)
ReplyDeleteLove them all and Flecked is my fave x
ReplyDeleteAhhhh these are so beautiful!! :D I was able to get my hands on Flecked and Flashy! :D I would have loved to get Motley too but I got the last two of these in the store. XD
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful review!! :D
OMGGGG!! Can someone ship these to India for me... Please :(
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love these top coats! Just got Flecked and Asylum a couple days ago but they didn't have Twisted. Can't wait for that.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh please let there be a place that ships to Australia! :(
ReplyDeleteI managed to find all of them except Flashy. And since it look's like 2010 (which I have)I'm happy with them:) Nothing better than cheap flakies...LOL. Your swatches look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAsylum, Twisted and Flashy! <33 But all of them are totally awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteflashy, asylum and twisted are tooooo die for!! i need those like asap!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Flecked over China Glaze Glittering Garland and Motley over My Nameless Franken are stunning! Beautiful pics :)
ReplyDeleteThey are wicked cool :):) actually in love with the Flashy design :)
ReplyDeleteOk, as immature as it may be...your typo under "Motley" totally made me giggle like a school girl.
ReplyDeleteAnywho great photos and I can't wait to get these. Thanks for the review.
Twisted is my fave from all these swatches I've seen. I still need to get my butt out to Sally's!
ReplyDeleteTo die for!
ReplyDeleteI am liking Asylum due to the majority red and blue... and of course Twisted since it's so rainbow.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are flashy or asylum.
ReplyDeleteTwisted over OPI's Russian Navy is an awesome combo! I've been wearing it all week and have gotten lots of compliments!
ReplyDeleteI think flashy is the most unique in the bunch and definitely my favorite
ReplyDeleteLove all of them! Even if I have some that are dupes (Nails Inc, Nfu Oh, DL, and soon Zoya).
ReplyDeleteNever too many flakies!
I didn't get mine cheap tho--our Sally's never ever ever has the cool polishes (WTF?) so I got mine on *bay. I would up w/ 3 bottles of Twisted so I'm going to make a flakie franken with one bottle and add a little of all the flakies (I saw this on someone's blog, not my idea).
Enjoy :)
ughhhhh I want these now!! I wish I saw your swatches before I passed them up at sally's! They didn't look that interesting then, hope I can still find them!
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are perfect :) Thank you so much for posting!
ReplyDeleteI just got Twisted, it's amazing. I can't get pictures of it though, it's weird, my camera won't focus! I hope it'll work better in the sun.
ReplyDeleteThese look great, I love the polishes you chose to layer these with! I have mine on the way from a friend who found them all for me and I can't wait to try them! ^_^
ReplyDeletei have them all and Motley and Twisted are my fav i LOVE them and i put them over blue too ! Wet and wild teal of fortune to be exact :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! And yes folks...if you want these RUSH - even 3 weeks ago some Sally's were already sold out of this Ltd Ed before Sally's even had them out in the shop on shelves...sold out from the back being brought up when folks came in requesting them. I think now we see FP having made this collection, other lower price point companies will be in the game soon with their own collections. I expect to see Sally Hanson and a # of others with sets in the next year. Mylar is cheap which makes up the flakie...but like all polishes - what base things are in is going to make the difference between OK-Good-Better-Best.
ReplyDeleteI bought Motley, Asylum and Flecked the other day but they were all sold out of Twisted, the one I wanted the most! Amazing swatches, as usual. :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAs per usual, your swatches are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this collection, Finger Paints did such a good job! Every color is a hit!!!
Yup had to buy the entire collec also, lol! After only buying flakies online, mainly from Golden Rose and
ReplyDeletePaying high shipping, I could not pass up on them!!
I bought Twisted and tried putting it on over Zoya Pippa but my Seche Vite made the combo shrink so much it was starting to peel within 20 minutes:( I thought maybe it was a Zoya problem since you've mentioned Seche will do that. So I put it over A England Princess Sabra. It's gorgeous! But I can see where Twisted actually shrunk along the tips and nailbeds. Did you have this problem? I'll have to try a different TC next time.
