It's mine!! It is finally mine. I have the best readers in the world and thanks to the help of some bloggy friends this beauty finally made it to me!!! When Deborah Lippmann came out with Glitter in the Air last year I was actually really let down with it. I expected more from it for such an expensive polish... So I passed on it.... However when Revlon did their flawless dupe I could not help but love it.... SOOOO.... Inevitably... I needed it in my collection.
When I posted about Royal not long ago a lot of you got the perception that I hate Revlon polishes. That is just not the case lovelies! I just hate Royal. I have a few other Revlon polishes thatI actually quite love. One of them was even in my top 10 of 2011 :D. Whimsical is a total WIN in my book.
I started with a base of Two coats of the very amazing Orly Frisky. Can I just say how madly in love I am with this combination? I've seen a lot of girls layering Whimsical over soft Blues but I honestly love this even more. The soft, milky Blue base of Whimsical toned down the brightness of Frisky just enough to make this really beautiful. Whimsical does not have the best application as the glitters are very sparse (as was the case with the original version of this color). It is best to dab it on and then spread it on the nail carefully so as not to push all the large Hex glitters to the tips of your nails. I stopped at Two coats because I love the soft and almost angelic look of this combination. I love the Coppery Pink and Light Blue Hexes in this. It's dreamy.... *swoon*
MMMMmmmmm.... That is all!Thoughts?
I have checked all the Walgreens in this are several times and have managed to get Starry Pink, Facets of Fuchsia, and Sparkling but I still can't find Whimsical! I do REALLY like it layered over a more vibrant blue!
ReplyDeleteThis really is the best combination I've seen so far!
ReplyDeleteSWOON SWOON SWOON---I LOVE that polish combo I need to get my fingertips on both!
ReplyDeleteIt looks SO pretty!!
ReplyDeleteOoh! Pretty! I love seeing how others use this polish because it is so unique!
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo yummy... congrats! And yes, it looks so angelic...
ReplyDeleteThat Orly Frisky is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this combination! I have never seen it over a brighter blue. I need to get my hands on whimsical!
ReplyDeleteYay finally!! I haven't seen it over a bright color yet and it looks great! I have yet to find it. My friend owns GitA though, ill just have to borrow it :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful combination!
ReplyDeleteGreat combo! One of my favs so far!!
ReplyDeleteKiss*
Every time I go looking for this polish its sold out lol ..... I'm on a mission lol
ReplyDeleteThat does look neat! The bright blue looks fab with Whimsical!
ReplyDeleteThis is goooorgeooous! I have no idea how I never saw anyone else try Whimsical over a bright blue base! It seems so obvious now! Love how the cloudy base on Whimsical tones down the blue juuuust a touch. Great job.
ReplyDeleteThis is only the 2nd bottle shot and swatching I have seen of this Revlon dupe for GITA. I have 2 of the original and adore them. Nice over this blue you used. Try it over a light nude or one that is a tish darker than your own skin tone. That is how Deb. Lippmann released GITA - along with her Naked. It looks great over a nude - and opaque nude.
ReplyDeleteI've been following your nail blog, this swatch really reminds me of Glitter in the Air by Deborah Lippman! I've been trying to start my own, inspired by yours, and many others in the community.
ReplyDeleteGah! I have to get off my butt and find Whimsical. It looks really cool over that shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love your choice of layering with Whimsical! What a great idea, using a brighter blue - I will have to try this when the glitters are released in New Zealand in March! :)
ReplyDeleteI like this combo a lot. Whimsical was recently in my Rite Aid and I passed on it. Maybe I should rethink that decision.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! What a weird coincidence too - I'd JUST applied topcoat to my mani of Whimsical over Nicole by OPI "Baby" Blue when I clicked into this post! LOL I was so happy when I stumbled across Whimsical in Walmart today!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I totally agree with your opinion on this! This look is a keeper...
ReplyDeleteMost of my Walgreens/CVS have multiple Revlon displays (don't ask me why) so I'm not sure which display to look for this in....so far no luck. Still on the hunt!
ReplyDeleteI found this at a grocery store and literally shrieked I was so excited. Lipmann's are just not in my prive range. Love that you put it over a brighter blue. Im going to try that next!
ReplyDeleteI don't have many Revlon polishes, but I bought Blue Lagoon to wear under Whimsical, and it effing SUCKED. I tried seriously 6 times. I tried many very thin coats, I tried 2 thick coats, I tried everything. No matter what, BUBBLES. I've never had ANY polish bubble so much as Blue Lagoon did. So I looked up reviews on MakeupAlley and they all agreed that the formula sucks. Such a pitty too, because the color itself would have been soo pretty.
ReplyDeleteI need to find Whimsical! I can't bring myself to buy Lippman's GITA, but would love to get my hands on this. I think I actually prefer it from the direct comparisons I've seen. Looks great here!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! If only I could find it!! :->
ReplyDeleteI like the layering over Frisky, makes it really pop :)
ReplyDelete@ Casey0402, I had the same problem with Blue Lagoon! I used it for snow man mani. I did the snow man on my thumbs and Blue Lagoon on the rest. Sucked! Looked better after I added white snowflakes over!
ReplyDeleteI found Whimsical last night at Albertsons! I heard that grocery stores can carry different colors. I was so excited when I found it! I also picked up Popular and Fashionista. : )
I love the copper and blue glitter too! Wearing it as my mani now but with For Audrey as the base, maybe I'll try using Orly Frisky as the base next time :)
