It is Flakie gate here at LTHP today. I hope you guys have some time on your hands because this is going to be a long post. I won't be rambling much but there are lots of pictures for you guys. Can I just say how excited I am to see Zoya venturing out into the realm of Flakies?! It is nice to see a company listen to their customers and give them what they want. Now if they would hurry up and do those holos they spoke about on Facebook not so long ago.. Hhhmmm.... I have faith in you my Zoya Faeries!! Now... Are you guys ready to do this? Pop some corn, sit back and relax... Because it's about to get a little fabulous in here...
To see swatches and lots of different layering combos just keep reading after the jump.
Since this post is a little long I won't go on about each color combination and just let you guys enjoy the pics. Instead what I will do is just post about each Flakie and then blow your minds away :D! All of the layerings are one coat of the glazes over the base color. I did not try these on their own. It is clear that they are not meant to be worn alone and I really wanted to play around with color combinations that would showcase the beauty of these amazing flakies.
Zoya Maisie - Mylar Glaze
This pretty is a light Blue base with Blue to Green flakies packed in it. The colored base is so barely there that on it's own you could never reach opacity. I love the shade of beachy Blue it is in and looking at the bottle on its own is mesmerizing. This flakie has the strongest and most obvious color shift in the bunch. What I mean by that is that you don't really have to tilt your hands to extreme angles to see the different colors in the flake. Brava Zoya *golf clap*.
Zoya Maisie over Zoya Skylar.
Zoya Maisie over Zoya Talullah
Zoya Maisie over Zoya Crystal
Zoya Maisie over Zoya Cynthia
Zoya Opal- Mylar Glaze
Opal is a light Green jelly base, that much like Maisie, is barely there. Looking into this bottle is like looking into the most beautiful swamp water you've ever seen lool. I know that sounds awful but it's really not. The flakes in Opal are, for the most part, Green. These also have a shift to Blue. Sound Familiar? I'll get into that later.. For now Please enjoy the beauty that is Opal.
Zoya Opal over Zoya Bevin.
Zoya Opal over Zoya Midori.
Zoya Opal over Zoya Apple. (Yes it's there.. Not the best combo lol)
Zoya Opal over Zoya Holly.
Zoya Opal over Zoya Codie.
Zoya Chloe- Mylar Glaze
Chloe is Valentine's Day in a bottle... This color is just so sweet. I love that this is not a dupe of Essie Shine of the Times/Nubar 2010/SH Hidden Tressure Original. While the flakes that float in the soft Pink base are Golden/Coral-y/Copper they do not really shift to Green until you hold you hand at extreme angles. The predominant color is Coppery goodness. There are also some Blue flakies sprinkled in the mix. I think out of the Three this is my favorite because it is just so striking.
Zoya Chloe over Zoya Tru
Zoya Chloe over Zoya Lotus
Zoya Chloe over Zoya Izzy
Zoya Chloe over Zoya Rica (Another questionable combo...)
Zoya Chloe over Zoya Yvette
Zoya Chloe over Zoya Anja.
Final Thoughts: Just when I start to think.. Maybe.... Just maybe... I might be getting "flaked out" Zoya goes and does this! I can not love them and I'll tell you why... For ages we have been nagging mainstream companies to give us more flakies... Nom nom nom!! We are the flakie monsters!! Well Zoya listened and gave us some motherfreakin' FLAKIES! Again I say Brava Zoya! These are really beautiful and they are inspiring me to make my own flakie creations as well. Also on a totally random side note: These are not as densely packed as some other flakies I've tried which I actually like because you can give the layering as dramatic or a subtle of an effect as you want. I totally want to play with my Zoya Beauties and make me some Zoya Magic with these flakes.
Thank you Zoya for the Awesomesauce! Which are your faves?
♥ Cristina

Wow! Chloe is a stunner. I am glad they didn't just dupe Shine of the Times/2010/HT!
ReplyDeleteThese are beyond amazing! :) And I don't think I've ever worn flakies with foils... must try that. :)
ReplyDeleteall are nice, but honestly - am i blind ? i cant really see much of a difference between the blue and the green flake poslish... considering it s one collection....
ReplyDeletei like the pink the best:-)!
Oohh Aahh...I love these!!
ReplyDeleteI think Chloe is prettiest, it seems more unique as well, and i just love it in the bottle, i dont normally like pinks but its just so shiny :)

ReplyDeleteI'm getting all 3, similarities be darned ;) Just like glitter (and Happy Birthday) you CANNOT HAVE TOO MANY FLAKIES.
ReplyDeleteI think 2012 is the year of the flakies--I believe that 2 or 3 of DL's spring line look like flakies, plus the Fingerpaint effects.....
Love love love flakies AND Zoya! And this reminds me why I love Zoya SO very much!!
Thanks for the pix, can't wait for mine to get here ;)
I love these, the only flakies I have is Nubar 2010! I doubt these come over to the UK!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! These are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see Zoya come out with some flakies!!! I can't wait to get my claws on these (and the True collection as well!). I can even deal with the 2 of the color effects being similar- I still *need* them :) Pretty swatches, Cris!
ReplyDeletehii, how much are these polishes?
ReplyDeleteI really love Zoya Chloe over Zoya Lotus. I'm a sucker for dark purple polishes, and while Lotus isnt too dark, I love how the flakies make the color pop.
ReplyDeleteZoya did a great job... I have to get Maisie and Chloe along with Skylar, Tru and Lotus (I don't really care for Opal as it looks a lot like Maisie)
ReplyDeleteYour Crystal+Maisie combo is just OMG ! :)
Too bad that the difference between Opal and Maisie wasn't bigger. But Chloe is really cute and I like that is has some tiny tine blue/green flakies mixed in :)
ReplyDeleteI am getting this whole collection! I love flakies and I am so glad Zoya is putting some out!
ReplyDeleteAll are amazing! I love it :D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I like that you layered them over a lot of different shades so we could see the different effects these polishes have. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh my! these are stunning! x
ReplyDeleteThese are quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing these and the beautiful combinations you used with us! :D
ReplyDeleteThis has got to be the best post on the Zoya flakies yet! I'm still not sold on them because I have so many flakies at home but if I were to purchase one it would be Chloe. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post, thanks for all the time and energy you put in it! I actually like the questionable combos. =D
ReplyDeleteLove Chloe :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, Not only did you make me want the flakies, NOW I want some of the Zoya polishes you layered them over!
ReplyDeleteArghhh, I thought All I needed was the flakies before you did this! Meanie! Meanie! Lol.. j/k...
My favorite combo..
Opal over Codie
Maisie over Cynthia
Opal over Midori
Chloe over tru

ReplyDeleteWow, thank you so much for the fabulous pictures!!! Your pictures actually made me want to buy these! I've seen lots of pictures on other blogs but they were just ... meh! Your pictures made them look glowing and I just love that kind of polish!! I thank you and of course you know that my budget does not!!! Thanks again!!!!
ReplyDeleteSue
These are great pictures! I'm really glad to see a comparison of Maisie and Opal because they really did look like the same flakes in a different jelly in other instances and I didn't want to order them both if that was the case. Fabulous post!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with all these flakes and dark polish combos! I think they just look beautiful!! I can't wait to try these out for myself!
ReplyDeleteHey could you vote for me to be the next Rimmel 10? I'm Megan M. All the infos on my blog!
I think Chloe is definitely my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI read elsewhere about a week ago that there was little difference over black of the same 2 you noted. The middle finger on yours has a tish more visible loaded flakie and more green and that was something noted by another reviewer. Makes me want to only order 2 and not 3. They needed to toss us a teal and lavender with pink in it - something different for the 3rd option. You KNOW they tried these on black as that's the standard to see what mylar colors come out in their formulation. Kind of odd they released it like this unless they ran out of time before hitting the run/distribution time frame and had to go with what they had. But it cannot be that hard if you have drugstore lines doing flakies now. I think we should see some HUGE make up in another wow collection down the road from Zoya this year. They have done two very neutral light collections now very recently. I too am happy Zoya came out with flakie as hard as it is to find great formula on special effects. I think layering of not just flaky but sheets with all kinds of things they impart like shimmer and colors of pearl (think CND Effects), and more going in the trend of toppers while we hopefully see less chunky glitters that have been way over done (however Zoya drew the line carefully with the glitters which I thank her for). So we need a wow for spring Zoya and it's high time for a major wow from OPI that has had some really mixed collections last yr. I love Zoya's formula however. Thanks for the great swatches - though agree with you - I would have skipped trying to put a flakie or any effect over any of the Zoya multichromes in their Sunshine 2011 collection - way too much gold shift in all of those to give any topper a chance to show much of anything. I have layered a few of the Sunshine collections together and came up with some great shades...the yellow one (Twissy maybe??) base with the deepest one - almost a red - and you get the BEST shade for autumn that looks like the best leaf peeping tour through Vermont you ever saw!
