Good morning loves!
Today I have my one and only pick from "The Hunger Games" Collection. Of course, I went for Luxe and Lush. It was meant to be, the bottle I got was the very last one. I was actually kind of let down by this collection. I guess, since they are inspired by the 12 Districts, it would make sense for most of them to be kind of bleak and sad. Except , of course, for Luxe and Lush. If you've not read The Hunger Games, you should totally get on that. It is seriously an amazing book, and I am sure the rest of the series will be just as amazing.
I did Two coats of Luxe and Lush over Two coats of China Glaze Midtown Magic. Luxe and Lush is a great mica-flake top coat. These flakes have a very interesting color shift. This combination really showcases the true beauty of Luxe and Lush so well. To apply it I kind of blobbed on what ever amount seemed lie enough and the spread that around the nail. I did that Twice. I had to work pretty quickly but carefully before the base started to get too tacky. The little Golden, ember-like shimmer, in Midtown Magic peeks so perfectly through the clear base of Luxe and Lush for a perfect Hunger Games themed mani. I could not stop staring at my fiery tips. To make sure it was all really smooth I did Two coats of Seche Vite.
I just love this! I seriously cannot wait for the movie on Friday!
Did you pick up any HG polishes?
So beautiful! I ordered mine, hope to get them before I go and watch the cinema premiere on Thursday! :) the 2 other books are great as well, you should def get on reading. :)
ReplyDeleteUrgh it's so beautiful. I ordered this one today along with Fast Track, Smoke & Ashes and Harvest Moon. I've read all three books and they are amazing, cannot wait to see the film! X
ReplyDeleteThis is the only swatch I have seen of this polish that has made me want it!!! New lemming born =)
ReplyDeleteLuxe & Lush does not represent the capital. It is for District 1 which makes luxery objects for the capital.

ReplyDelete"These flakes have a very interesting color shit" bahaha! I suppose you meant shift but this made my day!
ReplyDeleteI'm really not into any of the colors of this collection. I'm not a fan of flakies or glass flecks - so this one doesn't appeal to me either. I was kinda let down by the collection too!
ReplyDeleteWOW... I have to try this combination, its stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is a lot nicer than I tought it would be. I really like it.
ReplyDeleteyou totally picked a winner with midtown magic as a base, it looks fantastic! i'm gonna have to try that combo soon!
ReplyDeleteI picked up Harvest Moon, Agro, Fast Track and Riveting. I'm pretty sure I will have Riveting on my toes all summer!
ReplyDeleteI think many folks were let down by this collection - mostly because it just did not have shades we were ready for this time of year. Had it been a fall collection, we might have felt differently. But I hand it to CG that rather than try to pull the themes of the book into this season's shades. I am nuts for Riveting however. I love red/oranges. Riveting is certainly leaning more orange - it's a great toe shade. I wore it on my fingers and almost could not stop looking at 'em to keep my eyes on the road when in the car! The glitter in the collection just reads Xmas holiday to me - but they did need a gold - since they had Lux and Lush, the collection did not really need another glitter. Argo should have had more gold in it. Leaves me flat.
ReplyDeleteI actually loved the entire collection when I saw them in person, and even though I had only planned on purchasing about 5 colors based on online reviews, I ended up getting every single one. My least favorite by far is Mahogany Magic....way too yellow and baby-poo-esque.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh tomorrow I'll be visiting this movie <333! And I thought I didn't need this polish. Now I do. Wallets says thanks ;)!
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed with how dull this collection is but as a fan of the books, I feel that it really does represent the districts. Though I believe that they could have put a bit more color into the collection even though there is a lot of oppression and sadness for the districts.
ReplyDeleteDespite all that, I absolutely love this combo of yours. I'm still trying to figure out what to do for the premiere Friday.
Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeletei have just ordered this polish along with electrify and stone cold. i read your post and totally agreed with you so got some of the ones you liked. i had to get them over seas as i cannot get them here in australia(cannot find CG anywhere!!) so i am looking forward to painting my nails!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a gorgeous designer mani! Love it!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful, I love it ♥
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with you. Luxe and Lush isn't the only great polish in the collection. It is spectacular though (I got the last one at my Sally too). I wore it over dark green for St. Patrick's Day and my nails looked like they were covered in gold. Riveting is completely breathtaking and I don't even like orange and I was searching tor the perfect copper nail polish for over a year and found it in Harvest Moon. But differences of opinion make the world spin round.
ReplyDeletethat looks gorgeous !!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk I had no interest in this until your swatches. GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteI was sorely tempted to trash L&L or throw it away after my first experience using it. However, you've inspired me to give it another shot. I have to add that out of all the HG polishes I think I love Fast Track the best. I'm wearing Agro now since I'm from "District 11" XD I want to be ready for the premiere.
ReplyDeleteUGH!!!! I passed on the Luxe and Lush and ended up with Smoke and Ashes,Electrify, and Stone Cold, all pretty but nothing like this!I'll definately grab this next!
ReplyDeleteI purchased several of the Hunger Games polishes but passed on this one...after seeing your pics I'm regretting that decision!! I think most of the other swatches I'd seen were just one coat (very "meh") but 2 coats makes a world of difference...awesome swatches, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like this combo! Luxe & Lush looks AMAZING over Agro also :)
ReplyDeleteI really need luxe & lush!!It looks amazign over MMagic.
ReplyDeleteI went to buy this and they wouldn't let me buy the last one because they 'needed it for display' or something. Wah! I hope you loved the movie as much as I did - loved the books but this might be the one time I am going to say the movie is as good as the book!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I need to get this polish, too! :)
ReplyDeletevery nice! Does it remove easily?
