Hi loves and happy Thursday!!
Today I have a simple swatch for my lovelies. I am running low on postable material so I am having to dip into my "vault" of emergency swatches. I hate when that happens. I just can't really bring myself to post partial collections... So basically I have about Three partially swatches collections and none actually ready to be posted lol.... That's how I roll. Today's color came to me from the Central FL Beauty Blogger meet-up we held in march. I came home with quite a few polishes from the "pickins" boxes that the girls had brought and this was one of them.
Unicorn is a soft "Chick Fuzz" Yellow creme. This is one of those colors that- every time I went to the store- I'd pick up and put it back down. I was worried about the formula sucking TOO much since I had been reading on other blogs that this could be a difficult color to work with. Well when the opportunity presented itself to try it for free I jumped on it. While the formula was not great by any means, it was not nearly as terrible as I was expecting. It is a tad streaky and patchy but at Three thin coats it looked ADORABLE! I was never one to like Yellow on my nails. Once my "hand" got better I actually started appreciating Yellow on my tips. Yellow is such a happy color and this particular Yellow, I think, looks great on my skin tone. I love that while it is a muted pastel Yellow tone it remains "clean".
I'm so glad to have this as part of my arsenal. I think every girl should have at least One Yellow shade that flatters them. Yellow is such a misunderstood nail shade lol. It's just a matter of finding the right tone of Yellow to work with your skin and then have some patience with the formula :D. Once I found my Yellow I fell in love with the look.
Thoughts on Unicorn?
omgashhh i love this on you! it's such a cute shade, and it's not obnoxious and definitely very flattering on you (: your last statement is how i feel about all colors, i think they can all work once you find the right shade for you!
ReplyDeleteI have this color and have never got up the nerve to use it. I love yellows but always think they look horrible with my skin tone. You may have just given me the courage to try it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and happy shade :)
ReplyDeleteIt is soo pretty, I love it.
ReplyDeletethis yellow on you is fabulous. looks amazing against your skintone!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a fan of yellows!
ReplyDeleteBut you are right I guess its a matter of finding the right yellow for your skin tone! I love this color is super chick-a-licious =p
I literally had this in my hand today at walgreens....but then i thought of Fingerpaints lemon sour and put it down...then i bought open seas purely because it was a dupe for Mermaids tears....nail polish logic...
ReplyDeleteI have this shade (although I picture unicorn being pink not yellow?) and tried it once and it stained my nails badly. Did it stain yours? I wore it for a day..and had a basecoat underneath also. :( I might just have to use it as accents...

ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect on you! :) And so squishy. ♥
ReplyDeletetoo cute! this reminds me of a lil ducklin :) aawww!
ReplyDeleteI love yellow polish, I've never seen this one before - its lovely!
ReplyDeleteit's the type of yellows I LOVE!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks gorgeous on you! I wish I could get yellows to look as good on me!
ReplyDeleteIt's very close to CG Lemon Fizz, which is such a great color. We use Unicorn & LF a ton here! These tones are great because they are very wearable but still have a pop of color.
ReplyDeleteI also have picked up and put down this polish so many times! I was just looking at it today and thought the same thing about the formula. Maybe I'll have to give it a try now!
ReplyDeleteI just bought this very color yesterday. I've been debating whether or not yellow would look good on me and then I figured for 1.99 it was worth the risk. Can't wait to try it out,

ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful spring shade! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a happy and lovely color! I've had my eye on it but was unsure. Having seen this, I think I'm going to give in and get it :)
ReplyDeleteWell I'm glad you had a better time with this polish then I did. I really loved the shade but applying 4 coats it made me want to just throw it away! Maybe I will give it another chance. :P It looks soooo good on you!
ReplyDeleteI've got Revlon Top Speed in...oh shoot, the yellow that some people think is very similar to Chanel Mimosa, is it Electric? Anyway, I don't usually like quick dry polish since it seems to be more brittle and chip sooner...
ReplyDeleteSo I thought this color is a little prettier than the Revlon TS since it looks slightly paler and slightly jelly...but if it streaks as some other posters have commented...I might wait a little longer.
I'd like to know if it stained your nails like mvdub said it did to hers. :)
I have been wanting Unicorn for so long! I have to find it when I get back to the states.
ReplyDeleteLove the color myself, but be aware, people-- THIS STAINS TERRIBLY! even through 2 layers of basecoat and with only 1 day of wear. Hydrogen peroxide, lemon, whitening tabs, buffing, etc. all barely touched the deep stain this produced. Still waiting for the staining to grow out from weeks ago. So sad :(
