Essie Brooch the Subject and Madmoiselle- Lazy Chic

Hey it's Saturday!!!

Today I have Two pretty polishes by Essie. I've decided that I need some more Essie in my life. Whenever I try their polishes I'm always really pleased with everything about them and yet my Essie collection is very small. I like their range of classically pretty colors. I used to find them very boring but my tastes have really shifted and now I'm really attracted to Essie's soft, clean palette of feminine colors.
Essie Mademoiselle over Essie Brooch the Subject
Mmmmmm! This is kind of a "bonus deal". The way I came to own these is that I received a PR email from Essie about a nail look that Amy Adams rocked on the red carpet and I HAD to re-create it. On her nails Amy wore Essie's Brooch the Subject as a base with Mademoiselle layered over it. I'm not gonna lie... I kinda really love this look! I love the squishiness and shine that Mademoiselle adds to Brooch the Subject. I know, I know.. How boring am I? But I mean just look at how clean and fresh my hands look!

Essie Brooch the Subject
Brooch the Subject is one of those- ever popular- Band Aid shades. This one seems to lean more towards the Tan side rather than Peach so it is extremely wearable without looking too matchy matchy. Nice shade for the lazy days. The formula on this color is extremely easy to wok with and it does great in Two coats.

Essie Mademoiselle
Mademoiselle is a very soft and sheer Milky Pink. I guess this is a nude jelly? If you were a fan of O.P.I's NYC Ballet Collection then you'll love Mademoiselle. This color has a really nice formula as it does not streak or drag.
And there you have Two Essies for those lazy days when you still want to feel a little chic :D!

  6. Essie is one of my favorite brands. I tend to go for their more adventurous colors but absolutely love their reds and pinks. I feel like I need to get Essie Mademoiselle- it's such a classic! Really love the simplicity of this layered look.

  8. I would love if Essie would go cruelty free. I wonder if any nail bloggers would be willing to try and convince them to do so...

  9. I looove Essie. I'm totally going to be trying that combo for my next mani, it's so soft and clean!

If you haven't tried it you should get Topless & Barefoot it's super elegant and perfect for spring : )

  10. I have 3 Essie polishes, and I bought those before I found out that they test on animals. That's really sad, because I do love the 3 colors I have. But I won't buy anything else from them until they are cruelty free. I think that all of you nail bloggers have such a large audience and people listen to what you say, that it would be worth it to try to get them to change that. Animals don't wear nail polish, so it needn't be tested on them. It's pointless and cruel. I hope you will reconsider adding many to your collection in light of that.

  11. Okay, so now I'm pretty sure I need to do this. And likely layer Mademoiselle over tons of other colors to see what it does. :) Thanks for sharing!!

  13. Essie is the ONLY nail polish I'll wear. I agree they can play it safe with there colors but they are timeless and classic.

  14. I adore bright colours and vampy darks and glitter for days, but essie really does have such beautiful, subtle colours. I love Brooch's hue--a lovely nude that's not going to disappear all mannequin--and I'm so happy you swatched Mademoiselle! I was kind of "eh" on just the bottle shots, but it's such a beautiful jelly!

  16. Besides the very disappointing news that Essie is not cruelty-free, I really love their polishes. The one I have, about 10, I purchased prior to the awful news coming out. That said, I will no longer be purchasing Essie brand items. Now, I have Mademoiselle but it never quite looked right on my nails. Maybe I can use it over another shade, perhaps a China Glaze, Zoya or Sinful colors to get a similar effect. Thanks for the great idea, Cris.
