31 Day Challenge 2012! Day Twelve: Stripe Nails

Sorry I'm running late yet again!

These new med are really doing a number on me. To top it all off, my allergies are going off and my vision is taking a hit. NOT FUN!!!!! So, Sam and Rie already have their awesome striped looks up. Today's task is striped nails. I went for a witchy-sock inspired look since Halloween is right around the corner!
This look features a base of Cult Nails Deal with It(♥♥♥♥♥♥). For the stripes I used my Born Pretty Store striping tape, different patterns on each nail. The black is Cult Nails in Nevermore which is perfect for this technique since it is so opaque, and the formula so smooth. I topped the whole look off with some Seche Vite.

Now don't forget to stop by my challenge partners Rie and Sam's to see their Striped looks for day Twelve!

Muffin Monday!! Aphrodite Lacquers Rumrunner gets "Giltified"

Happy Muffin Monday!!

It has been SO long since the last time I did a Muffin Monday. I miss having my kittehs halp on the blog. Have you guys missed Miss Muffin? She sure has had a nice little break, but it was time to have her come back and help me with my Monday picks :D. I literally could not decide which of my Aphrodite Lacquers I wanted to go with, so I had Muffin pick for me. As usual she picked a total win! Well, all of the options are total wins... Onto the kitteh!

Aphrodite Lacquers Rumrunner
This is such an amazing color I don't even know where to begin. Rumrunner is an amazing Berry toned jelly base packed full of different tones of small Red, Pink and Berry hexes and smaller Silver twinkle glitter. Uh-MAZING! I absolutely LOVE the fact that it is an opaque polish and it does not need to be layered. This color really does remind me of a tall, delicious drink! I used Three thin coats for full opacity. I love this jelly sammich in a bottle.

Since I actually got to rock this over the weekend I layered my Zoya Gilty Gold flake top coat. I could not stop staring at my nails. I could have worn this for ever! I topped it all off with Cult Nails Wicked Fast  top coat.
Muffin is happy to be back and I am so happy to have her help me decide which amazing polishes to wear again. I can't believe how long it had been since I last had Miss Muffin on the blog. That makes me feel bad mm'kaay... Muffin Mondays are an LTHP tradition, I shall try to keep up with it like I used to!

Thanks for stopping by!

31 Day Challenge 2012! Day 11: Polka Dot Nails

Yo!

So today is day 11 of the 31 Day Challenge. The task today is polka dotted nails. I'm super tired today. My new meds are doing a number on me in terms of energy... As in, I don't have any, EVER. I get tired really fast over nothing. Me no likey!
For my polka dot nails I started with a base of Chick Nail polish in Biker Chick. The dots were done using Cult Nails Nevermore, Pomegranate Lacquers in Blue Screen of Death and Julie G Oh Em Gee!. I initially didn't have a plan for my "dot placement" so most of my nails ended up with different patterns. These are cute, but they were cuter in my head lolol!!

31 Day Challenge 2012! Day Ten: Gradient Nails

Happy Caturday!

Today Rie, Sammy and myself are taking on the Tenth prompt in the 31 Day Challenge. The task is gradient nails. I went for an all Zoya look. ANDDDDD I finally got to try out my Gilty 18k Gold flake top coat... Instant love!
For this look I started with a base of Zoya Cho. For the gradient I used Zoya Cho, Bevin and Natty. I topped off my gradient with some Cult Nails Wicked Fast then followed by the Gilty 18k Gold flake. I.LOVE.This!!! It looks so pretty with the Gold flake on top. I am SO glad I got this set from Zoya. BTW!! Zoya has brought back the Gilty Set for a limited time, so if you missed out the first time around, this is your chance to get in on it!!

Now don't forget to stop by my challenge partners Rie and Sam's to see their Gradient looks for day Ten!

Pixi Fall 2012 Swatches

Happy Friday!!

Today I have a quick post to show you guys Three new(ish) polishes by Pixi. These three pretties were released for Fall/ Winter. I won't ramble much today and get straight to the polishes because I really want to get SO much stuff done today! I hate when it feels like there isn't enough time in the day to get done what I need done... Anywho.... POLISH!

Pixi Classy Cocoa
This is pretty much the most amazing, most awesome Brown polish I own right now. I.Don't.Like.Brown... That said.. Just look at this amazing color, how could I not like this?! The base is a light Chocolate Brown packed full of Coppery/ Golden shimmer. In some lights you can even see some slight Violet tones, they are very subtle though. This color is extremely flattering and has a great formula. I used Two coats for pictures.

Pixi Evening Emerald
The name on this one throws me off lol.. This is not a Green polish. Well, what is it then? It is a beautiful, Blackened Teal shimmer. I love the darkened edges on the nail with this polish. The shimmer is really pretty and reflects light beautifully. I used Two easy coats for my swatch.

Pixi Amazing Amethyst
Amazing Amethyst is not quite this Blue in person. It is however, a really vivid and pretty shade of shimmery Amethyst Purple. I've read on a lot of fellow blogger posts that this color doesn't feel very unique. I find it totally awesome. I was trying to find something similar in my stash but I came up empty, so in my stash this is actually a pretty unique shade. This color also has a great formula and does well in Two coats.

I really like this small Fall collection, especially Classy Cocoa. All Three colors have great formulas, which is always nice. I really like the Pixi brush quite a lot. I think it's because it has a longer wand that most polishes. In my book, longer wands make for easier application. Pixi polishes are available from Target and retail for $8.00.

Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by!

31 Day Challenge 2012! Day Nine: Rainbow Nails

Happy Thursday!

Today Sam, Rie and I will be taking on the Ninth prompt in the 31 Day Challenge. The task for today is Rainbow nails. I couldn't think of a better way to do a full rainbow look than by doing a watermarbled look. A LONG time ago I did a rainbow marble for the lovely Kellie and ever since I have been wanting to re-visit the look. Rainbow lollies for everyone!
This look features all Bettina colors for the swirls. They are #15, Purple, Premium Wash, Mojito, Yellow and Starfish. The base is one coat of Milani's White on the Spot. Because, in my book, a watermarble is not complete until there is some sparkle, I added a coat of Twee & Honey's Fairy Farts. I topped the whole thing off with some Seche Vite.

I love marbles with lots of colors. Bettina polishes are THE BEST for this technique! Now don't forget to stop by my challenge partners Rie and Sam's to see their Rainbow looks for day Nine!

Sation Holiday 2012 Collection Preview

Hi loves!!

Good evening! Please enjoyt this Press release from the lovely people at Miss PN- Sation!

Happy “Holiday Golightly” from Miss
Holidays are a time for all things fabulous: parties, presents, and polish! Miss Professional Nail
(Miss) is ringing in the season with “Holiday Golightly,” a shimmering new collection of nail
lacquers. These six sparklers are a great idea for fun stocking stuffers and to accessorize your
New Year’s Eve look!
Miss’ Creative Director Staci Dao wanted to celebrate the joy of gift-giving (and receiving!) by
reminding us to pamper ourselves and our loved ones this season. Silver screen icon Audrey
Hepburn captured our hearts playing free-spirited fashionista Holly Golightly, whose love of
shiny gems helped inspire Miss in creating this wish list of winter stunners.
From the timeless, Tiffany-inspired blue to unique reds and greens, these luxe shades will light
up your holiday season: “Under the Miss-letoe,” a pearlescent pine green; “Feliz Navi-doll,” an
icy crystalline grayish-white; “I Love Yule,” a velvety poinsettia red; “Let’s Mingle & Jingle,” a
silver-spangled sapphire blue; “Holiday Golightly,” a glistening Robin’s egg blue, and “Stop
Scrooging Around,” a gold-sparkled ruby wine. ‘Tis the season to channel our inner Holly
Golightly and embrace the Miss mantra that “It’s the little pleasures that count…”

If you don’t the find the Holiday Collection under your tree, it will also be available online and
in beauty supplies in late October.

All Miss products are free of DBP, toluene and formaldehyde.

O.P.I Short Film- Instinct of Color

Hii!

This is a quick post to share a short film by O.P.I, the first by the brand. I loved the video SO much that  I HAD to share it! Four, hawt, talented girls dancing, a beautiful horse doing a moon-walk and fierce nail polish! You guys definitelly want to check this out!

OPI Announces Brand’s First International Short Film

OPI pays hommage to its Culture of Color with the international launch of its first branded film. Set to the French DJ band C2C’s “Down the Road,” the video features a surrealistic dance-off between four female dancers and a gorgeous Thoroughbred, as trained by equestrian stuntmaster Mario Luraschi.
Named after OPI’s classic black nail lacquer, Lady in Black (known as Black Onyx in North America) brought to the film a repetoire of moves including tap steps and dancing en pointe, while showcasing bestselling OPI colors on her hooves.
The film’s four featured lacquers – Pink-ing of YouRed My Fortune CookieNeed Sunglasses? and No Room for the Blues – each represent one style of dance and one overarching theme, illustrating OPI nail lacquer as a means of self-expression.
“I always say that nail lacquer can change your look – and your outlook,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director. “Today, nail color can convey feelings and emotions, expressing on the outside what the wearer is feeling on the inside. In this short film, four women communicate through dance and color. With a trained Thoroughbred who could replicate the dancers’ moves with very little digital enhancement,  we were able to capture the unique, energetic and creative culture that epitomizes the OPI brand.”
The video launches worldwide on October 24, 2012. Please visit OPI on YouTube to view!

O.P.I Germany Collection Fall 2012- Part Two

Happy Humpday!

Today I am finally posting the Second half of O.P.I's Germany Collection for Fall 2012. In this half we have some epic shimmers. Mark my words! These will be the polishes that become VVHT in the future... So get em now while they are in stores. Three colors in particular really stand out to me in this portion: Germanicure, Every Month is Oktoberfest and Deustch you Want me Baby? They are seriously beautiful and perfect for Fall. [HERE] is the first half of the collection.

O.P.I Every Month is Oktoberfest!
Gahhhhh!! Are you seriously serious?! Ok So, if Clarins 230, MaxFactor Fantasy Fire O.P.I BlackCherry Chutney all got together and had a love-baby you would get Every Month is Oktoberfest! This polish embodies all that is perfect and beautiful for Fall. A deep inky shimmery base laced with micro copper/golden shimmer. I love the darkened edges when on the nail and how it glows in the sun. The formula on this color is really nice, maybe even sheer enough to be layered (have yet to try it). For my swatch I used Three easy coats.

O.P.I German-icure
German-icure is the Copper toned sister of Every Month is Oktoberfest. This shade is the first Copper shade I have ever truly enjoyed. The shimmer in this polish has a very glowy quality and the darkened edges when on the nail. I am all about this lovely micro-shimmer right now. I used Three coats of this shade.

O.P.I Deutsch you want me Baby?
This did not photograph right. It is not quite this vivid of an Orange. I would call it a Burnt Orange with Coppery undertones, DYWMB? is also rocking the micro shimmer, this time in Orange and Golden. Very Fall, totally gorgeous! This shade also has a great formula and does best in Two coats.

O.P.I Danke-Shiny Red
Danke-Shiny Red is a lovely, metallic Candy Apple Red. This Red is packed with shimmer and the formula is so perfect, it could almost do with One coat. I did Two for my photos. The only way I'm a fan of Red is when they are this amazing!

O.P.I Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue
Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue  is a jewel-toned metallic Blue with just the slightest Green undertones. This is a pretty shade but with such amazing shades in this collection, this one feels a little flat to me. I used Two coats for my swatch, formula-wise it is a great polish.

O.P.I Suzi And The 7 Dusseldorfs
Suzi And The 7 Dusseldorfs is a medium, Red toned Purple shimmer. There is a hint of Blue shimmer in the base. It is a really pretty color, but much like the Blue shade it falls a bit flat for me. It's pretty but I think my standards were set waay to high by the first three shades in this post and even some of the cremes
I am a huge fan of this entire collection and I am hereby placing it under my Epic WIN tab. Those shimmers!! Seriously guys! Get them now while they are readily available! Colors like German-icure and Every Month is Oktoberfest are the colors that keep us talking for years. They will become classics, I can feel it :D. I love the range of colors and variety in this collection, there is something for everyone. I am so glad I am around for these colors and that I actually have them!!! You guys know what I mean right (Hello Mad as a Hatter)? I shall cherish them for ever!

Which are your favorites?

31 Day Challenge 2012! Day Eight: Metallic Nails

Good evening dahlings!

My slacker bum finally sat down to do today's challenge prompt about Two hours ago. Sammy and Rie posted earlier today. I believe Miss Rie had quite a fun night and was also runnin late today lol! My excuse? I got caught up with a hair color project over the weekend (still not finished), and had no time to do my challenge nails.
Also, a bit of news... I had a doc appointment earlier today and finally got an answer as to what has been making me ill, turned out to be Crohn's Disease. At this point I am just glad to have an answer and can finally get on an official treatment plan. So there's that...
I had a hard time coming up with a look for today's look. I couldn't decide what kind of metallic I wanted to go with... Glassfleck metallic? Shimmer? Glitter? Chrome-y? And then, there it was, like a shining beacon... My O.P.I Goldeneye from the new Skyfall Collection! It was a done deal...
Yeah.. I'm rocking a shatter! The base color is Three coats of O.P.I Goldeneye. Once my base was really dry I applied my Silver Shatter. The contrast of the Silver against the warm, Honey Gold is so much more awesome than I thought it would be. I topped it all off with some Seche Vite. The look was definitely metallic....

Now don't forget to stop by my challenge partners Rie and Sam's to see their Metallic looks for day Eight!

Twee & Honey All Hallows Collection- Halloween 2012

Good afternoon!!

I seriously cannot believe it is Monday already.... I also cannot believe October is almost over. Where has this year gone?! Today I have one last Halloween Collection to show ou guys. This set comes from indie brand Twee & Honey. There are a lot of pretties in this set so I'm gonne get straight to it!

Twee & Honey Hallow
Hallow is a dreamy, shimmering White. This is one of those "squishy" Whites a lot of us love so much. The shimmer in the polish is so dreamy and just pretty. When I think of what "pretty" should look like, this polish comes to mind. This shade does well in Three easy coats. The formula is nice and easy to work with. This does dry a bit dull so a top coat is a must.

Twee & Honey Viscera over Zoya Ziv
Viscera is a blend of small orange Squares, medium Orange Hexes, some White hexes and some sneaky hearts all suspended in a light Orange jelly base. For this look I layered Three thin coats of Viscera over Zoya Ziv for an interesting glowing finish.

Twee & Honey Holey Sheet over Hipster Zombie
Holey Sheet was an immediate stand-out for me.  This polish is made up of varying sizes of satiny White hexes suspended in a light, shimmery Seafoam base, there are also some opalescent flakies thrown in for good measure. This polish is ethereal and absolutely drool-worthy. I layered Two coats of Holey Sheet over Hipster Zombie.

Twee & Honey Tutu over O.P.I Mourning Glory
Tutu is a glitterbomb of epic proportions. This pretty is made up a small Magenta, light Pink and opalescent glitter base with accents of larger hexes in Magenta and light Pink. I layered Two coats of Tutu over my Black base.

Twee & Honey Ring Around the Rosey over Polished Components Thong
Ring Around the Rosey is a blend of Red, Black and larger Black hexes and opalescent bits suspended in a rosey, shimmery base. There is a lot of texture in this polish. I layered Two coats over my base color.

Twee & Honey Anathema
Anathema is a deep, deep Teal-ish green jelly. In most light it almost looks Black, but it is definitelly a deep Green. The formula on this one is a little tricky so a patient hand is needed and wait between coats. I used Three thin coats.

Twee & Honey Miasmasb over Anathema
Miasmas is a holographic top coat with a sprinkling of Multichromatic glitter. Miasmas dries a little matte so a top coat is a must.

And there you have Twee & Honey's Halloween collection. My faves would have to be Hallow, Holey Sheet and Tutu. I love T&H polishes. Her naming skills are freaking great and the lady behind the brand is a total sweetheart who knows how to bring the lols.

Which are your faves? Also, what will you be dressing as this Halloween?

31 Day Challenge 2012! Day Six: Violet Nails

Happy caturday!!

Today Sam, Rie and myself will be taking on the Sixth prompt in the 31 Day Challenge. The task today is Violet nails. For this challenge day I actually knew exactly what I wanted to do and which colors I was to use. That has not been the trend so far throughout this challenge :D. I've been winging it for the most part.
This look features all Sation shades. Some of my favorite Purple cremes come from Sation. I knew I just HAD to use Miss Emo Shun All for this look. I've been pretty much obsessed with that polish since I tried it way back when. So I went through my Sation Purple stash to find complimenting shades of Purple and this is the end result... Have I told you guys how much I love the "spun sugar" mani look?
This look started with a base of Two coats of Miss Emo Shun All. For the strings I used Sation's Love at First Lavender, Tardy Tart and Fan the Flames Fuchsia. I decided to leave it with out a top coat because I like the texture of the strings. I also didn't want to risk smudging my strings by trying to top coat them.
I've made some changes to my lighting yet again.... I'm always on the quest for better picture quality. There was just a bit too much glare for my liking, especially when I do nail art. So... I'm going to play around with this new set up and hopefully land on something I really like and is also appealing to you guys. As of right now, I'm pretty happy with how this looks. We'll see...

Now don't forget to stop by my challenge partners Rie and Sam's to see their Violet looks for day Six!

O.P.I So So Skullicious Halloween Minis for 2012

Good evening loves!

This time around I have the adorable Halloween minis set that O.P.I released earlier this month. This set is made up of Four "Day of the Dead" inspired shades. The kit even includes the most adorable Sugar Skull water decals to accent the colors! I'm not normally big into Halloween but nail polish is the exception to that "rule". Halloween polishes always seem to be fun in a different, quirky kind of way. Which is why I love 'em!

O.P.I Mourning Glory
Mourning Glory is a classic Black creme. The formula on this black is opaque and pretty dense. I did see a hint of "smoke". When compared to O.P.I Black Onyx you can see a very slight difference. Black Onyx is like a patent leather Black where this is more of a "normal leather" black lol. I used Two coats for full opacity. I'm still a sucker for a plain Black manicure!

O.P.I Hi Pumpkin!
Hi Pumpkin! is like a radioactive shade of Pumpkin Orange creme. This is a FUN color. I practically wanted to eat my nails when I wore this because it looks like candies. Perfect little Halloween candies. The formula on this shade is easy to work with. For the swatch above you see Two coats, some nails required a thin Third coat.

O.P.I Candlelight
Candlelight is a nice warm Yellow creme. I would describe this as an Egg-Yolk type of yellow. I actually really like it! The formula on this Yellow was a nice surprise. It was not excellent by any means, but easier to work with than my one an only other O.P.I Yellow, Need Sunglasses? For the photo I did Two coats (I was also using this as a base for a glitter that day), but in reality this color would probably do best in Three thin coats.

O.P.I A Rose from the Dead
A Rose from the Dead was an unexpected Halloween shade for me. A Pink for Halloween? Sure haha! This is a really pretty shade of Blushing Pink creme. It is vivid and muted at the same time. The formula on this shade is a dream and does great in two easy coats. Also, this color is insanely flattering!

And just for fun here is a quick look I did using O.P.I A Rose from the Dead with some indie glitter layering and Two Skully decals from the O.P.I set. I'm not much for Halloween nail art myself, but this look I really do like because it is not your traditional Halloween color scheme.
I have quite a few Halloween Collection posts coming your way so I hope you guys dig Halloween polishes as much as I do lolol! This little Halloween Set by O.P.I is a must have, even if just for those freaking ADORABLE skully decals! The polishes are cute, fun and great to work with but the decals bring it all together! The packaging on this set is adorable as well and I don't nomally notice things like that.
The set is available now from O.P.I retailers.
  Thoughts on halloween nail art/collections?
