LTHP FAQ's: Which top coats do I use?

Hi loves!!

This is a quick post to share an updated version of my Top Coat video. This is probably the most frequently asked question by you guys. About time I made an up-to-date version of this!!

As always, of you guys have any questions, suggestions etc feel free to leave em in the comments or email me!

  1. Do you use top coat to attach nail art such as rhinestones or any raised type artwork such as 3-D designs?
With those type designs...do you still find the Seche Vite to be the best?
Any thoughts on combo base/top coats as well?
    Thanks, Jane

  2. thanks for the video. i have been on the quest for a new top coat ever since poshe started shrinking on me. i had stopped using seche before that because of the thickness factor but i might try it again. i would love to try the cult nails top coat, too, but just may have to wait until there's a sale so i can justify adding it to an order.

  4. Hello Chris, I have been following you on fb for quite some time and would have never figured out you are Puertorican, lol... Well, so am I, and like you, people try to put a finger on my accent and can never figure out where I'm from since I only live 14 years in Puerto Rico and I'm married to a "white" man lol. Well, let me tell you that you are doing phenomenal on your blog and on fb, I love nail art and wish I could wear them every day but unfortunately I can't because I'm in the military. Keep up the awesome nail art and continue doing what you love the most, awesome story and I get happy when I hear that husbands are supported, and it sounds like your husband is amazing... Oh and one last thing... 1,342 nail polishes? Holy moly... lol. Lots of love <3

Well, so am I, and like you, people try to put a finger on my accent and can never figure out where I'm from since I only lived 14 years in Puerto Rico and I'm married to an american man, so most of my accent is gone. 6. Thanks so much. Can you also talk about base coats in another post? I really envy your unstained nails in this post and have yet to find a base coat that actually prevents staining.

  8. I've pretty much come to the same conclusion about topcoats... although I hadn't thought about the smell, Otherwise, Seche Vite and Wicked Fast are my favorites, too, for the same reasons.

Sally Hansen Insta-dri is also reasonable... not quite as fast as the others, but that same thick consistency and it does seem to have hardeners a that dry all the layers... plus, it might be slightly more accessible to some people, because you can pick it up at major drugstores.

  10. Hi Cris! Great vid! I agree with the lady above about the Sally Hansen Insta-dry - it's great! You have to keep it in a cool place though or else it'll cause bubbling (Insert scream here).. But when the bottle gets old & goopy like Seche, I do like to use to it over glitters better than Gelous because you only need one coat & it's GLOSSY! Also can you please do a 'how I do my own manicure' vid with a list of the products you use for your beautiful hands & nails? Thanks a bunch!

  11. hello Cristina!
Some girls recommend that top coat:
    http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=156327/Better_than_gel_nails_high_gloss_top_sealer/Essence/Polishes
I have it yet to try though.
I use Poshe and shrinking aside, I love it - it does not contain Toluene (contrary to Seche) and the gloss (as well as drying time) is incredible. Usually when it starts to shrink my polish and gets too goopy, I dilute it with non-toluene polish thinner, it helps for a while.
PS. Accent or no accent, I love your blog.
    hugs from snowy Poland

  12. Not relevant to this specific video but I've been wondering and trying to answer this myself for some time.. How did you make the drawer front covers for your helmers? I know it's probably some sort of contact paper but how did you get it around the handle and label area?

  13. I have followed you for a long time...love your work. I wanted to know have you ever tried HK Girl resold by Glisten & Glow? I use to be a SV girl and I have tried CN WF too but I loooovvvveeee Glisten & Glow's HK Girl because it truly dries in about 3 mins no problems.
