Happy Humpday!
This is a little bit of a sappy post for me. I know it might seem weird to just about everyone reading this.. But I really feel that this post is the "end of an era"; the era of the square nails. I've been blogging since August of 2010, and for the majority of my time blogging my nails were a very square shape. I loved my square shorties and really took pride in keeping my nubs neat and clean.
But now it's time for a change. You may have noticed that my nails now have a more rounded shape to them, and I am even letting them get a bit longer than I used to. For me, the process of blogging is about seeing the growth an evolution of my craft. I am constantly striving to do better than I did yesterday. I don't compete with fellow bloggers, I compete with myself. Can I be a better blogger today than I was yesterday? That is the challenge I present myself every day.
In presenting these little changes, and expanding my content on this blog, I have really found a sense of purpose and have really found what I want to do in life. I enjoy talking about nails. I LOVE experimenting with makeup. And I LIVE for dressing up and having fun with my wardrobe. I so love every aspect of being a girl and being able to share that with my readers.
There is so much more to me than just nails. I really do believe that being polished extends from head to toe. While this blog is rooted in nail art and all things nails, I really do feel like I can share all my girly passions with you guys. Along with the new nail shape, I plan on including more makeup looks and even some fashion posts. I'm really looking forward to growing this blog more and more with time. Blogging is something I enjoy and am passionate about. This has gone past a hobby for me. This is my passion, my blood, sweat and tears.
In struggling with my health at one point I felt less than human.... Through this blog and interacting with you all I have started to feel like a person again and it brings me such joy to share my passions with some of the most amazing people I have ever encountered. So with that in mind, we say goodbye to the square nails and usher in a new era of all things girly and beautiful!
To see close up swatchies of these polishes just continue reading ♥.
All swatches shown with a top coat for smoothness and shine.
Greyscale is a really cool blend of Black and White dots, hexes, rectangles and squares suspended in a clear base. This baby is chunky, but easy to work with. I used one coat over my base color.
KBShimmer Don't Teal Anyone
Don't Teal Anyone is a beautiful shade of a creamy Teal base packed full with glitters in Gold, Purple and Aqua. This shade has a fabulous formula and does great in Two coats.
A England Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is a deep, Blackened shade of vampy Plum shimmer. This shade has a very saturated formula and does great in Two coats.
Inglot O2M #688
#688 is the most beautiful shade of vivid Mint green creme. There is also a very subtle shimmer in the creamy base. The formula on this color is a bit thick, but not a problem. I used Two coats of color for my swatch.
O.P.I You're Such a Budapest
You're such a Budapest is one of those Lilac shades that I am a complete sucker for. Creamy, shimmery, lilac perfection ♥. I used two coats for my swatch.
O.P.I My Vampire is Buff
My Vampire is Buff is a really beautiful shade of soft Almond creme. This shade has a really difficult formula. I had to use Four coats to get it to even out and not be streaky of patchy. I'm hoping it was a fluke and that it will be better come the next time decide to use it.
Serum No. 5 Pink Peonies and Mint to Be
Pink Peonies is a light, shimmering Pink base packed full of Pink, red and light Pink glitter. This shade is adorable and so girly. Mint to Be is a beautiful shade of shimmering Mint crelly accented by Satiny White hexes. I used Three thin coats for each shade.
So, I know it's a bit weird for me to make a big deal out of my changing my nail shape lololol. But I was such a square nail gal for so long.. It feels odd to love my rounded nails so very much more! I am very excited for all the things I have planned for LTHP. I want to give you guys the chance to know the person behind the nails a little better. There is so much more to me than just nails and I really want to make this blog into a glimpse of ALL my passions. Don't worry, nails will always be my focus of course. Nails and nail art are my home. But makeup and fashion are also little things that really excite me and I hope to get you guys excited too :D.
And always remember. Being polished doesn't just come down to nails ;). It is an all around look... Now, go forth and be fierce my loves!! Enjoy being a girl!! Celebrate all the things that makes us better than boys hahaha! ♥
Thank you for this post and for sharing your thoughts! Looking forward to seeing what lies ahead :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I am looking forward to all things girly on your blog:) Congrats on finding your passion and whatever your nail shape or length, I will continue to enjoy your posts. Take care!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a Budapest - actually I am reading you from Budapest! And look forward to the girly posts and new nail shape!
ReplyDeleteI've been able to pick your nails out of a host of people's swatch pics for a while now. It will take me a while to automatically recognize your new look! Not too long, though, as I'm an avid fan of your art and reviews! You're definitely one of the best out there, and I think the plan for growth and expansion of your blog is great!
ReplyDeleteI love that you post personal things like this too :) It really makes us feel like we know you, not just in one dimension (as an amazingly talented nail artist) but a a whole, awesome, unique person! I think you're great and I have a feeling we'd be friends in real life ^_^
ReplyDeleteHere's to growing, to changing, to feeling positive about the future, and to your new nail shape! Cheers! Salúd! :D
Great post lady. It's not a bad thing to make a big deal out of changing the shape of your nails because you've been blogging for so long and the majority of your time you've had square nails. I absolutely love the direction that your blog is going and I can see how passionate you are through your pictures and the words you type. You are truly an inspiration to everyone in the nail community. You were one of the reasons I decided to start blogging myself and even though your nail shape will be different I will most definitely be able to pick them out in a crowd of nail pictures. Your style is so unique and so you. So don't feel bad for making post about changing your nails, be proud! Because you are one of the best I've seen and I can't wait to watch your blog grow even more! :)
ReplyDeletePersonally I am REALLY excited for you to start including makeup and fashion :)
ReplyDeleteI say thumbs up! I agree with what you say, a girl with lacquered nails probably is interested in other areas as well, like make up and clothing. For me it's the same! I also look forward to this new era and will def follow!
ReplyDeleteIt's totally a huge deal the first time you change your nail shape to something different, and wayyyy more so because you've had the same shape for like 3 years! I am so thrilled to see more fun and varied content from you; so excited for you (and for me, because I get to read along ^.^ )
ReplyDeleteAwww...thank you for sharing! I think you explained your evolution beautifully; sqaure, squoval, stilleto, round or almond- you rock! I love reading your blog because it makes me feel like I have an ally in my girly obsessions. 😘
