LTHP's Favorite Nail Polishes of 2011- Honorable Mentions

Hello and good evening!!

The year is coming to an end it is that time to pick our faves!! I've been all about these posts because I love seeing everyone's picks as their faves for the year. I didn't get to do this last year because I had just started blogging and I didn't really have much to choose from. I originally intended to only do a "Top 10" but the task of narrowing my list down from 57colors on my short list (LOOOL) down to just Ten was just impossible. So I'm doing things a little different for my 2011 Faves...

I've decided to break my picks down into different categories. I will be showing you guys my Top 10 International/ Indie brands in one post, my top Ten mainstream brand picks in one post and I have chosen Five "honorable mentions" as well. These will all be colors from 2011. Tonight I will be showing you guys my Five honorable mentions. These are colors that I absolutely fell in love with but they didn't  seem to get that much recognition from blogland. These are in no particular order. Let's get to it shall we?!

Zoya Kendall: Feel Collection/ Winter 2011

This shade is just dreamy. It's a soft neutral and a great go-to color. This shade came out very late in the year for Winter and it's a stand out because it is such a soft neutral shade. When I think of winter I think of sparkles and vamps and this color really detoxified me.

Color Club Nomadic in Nude: Back to Boho/ Fall 2011Collection
I remember when I first received this collection for review I started with this color because I thought it was the most boring... I ended up wearing it for Four days and not wanting to take it off. I later found out that this was a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Waking up in Vegas which kinda explained my strange attraction to this rather unusual Greige.

O.P.I On Stranger Tides: Pirates of the Caribbean Collection/Summer Brights 2011
When this collection came out I hated it.. And then I received them.. And swatched them and I was immediately drawn to this shade. A lot of people were going mad about Mermaid's Tears and Silver Shatter but this shade really stood out to me. I love the "dirty minty Green" quality about it.

China Glaze Pelican Grey: Anchors Away/ Spring 2011 Collection
I love Grey. Plain and simple. Even though I own about 68 different shades of Grey this one is really special due to the awesome Pearly shimmer that seems to float on the surface.

Zoya Mitzi: Mod Mattes/ Summer 2011 Collection
Matte? Check. Bright? Check. Awesome Formula? Check. This unusual Tennis Ball Yellow- Green really made my Summer vibrant. I love Zoya's mattes and this was is absolutely a must have for you ladies that enjoy some BRIGHT nails.

That is is for my honorable mentions. These are colors that while I loved them very much they came just a little short of my Top Picks but still needed to be recognized. These may be a little plain or boring to some I find them so pretty and refreshing. Tomorrow I will be showing you guys my Top 10 Indie/ International Brand picks. That is where things really get exciting!

Have a good nite loves! Thought?

Merry Christmas!!! Holiday Watermarble with Bettina Nail Polish

Merry X-mas Morning and happy Sunday!

I hope Santa brought you all what you wanted. I don't know what he brought me yet because I've yet to open presents but I know they will be good. I will be back later or tomorrow and I'll tell you guys what I got. Tomorrow is very special as well. It is my Mommas birthday as well as Miss Muffin's!!! SO she gets tomorrow off but I will be doing a special mani for her birthday. Today I have a special Holiday watermarble that looks like little Holiday candies.
Mmmm candies!!! So for this marble I started with a base of one coat of Bettina Marshmallow. For my marbling colors I used all Bettina colors as well because I just love how they marble. I used Mojito, #15 and Marshmallow. I really liked how it looked but what is a X-mas mani without some glitter? So that's why I decided to add China Glaze's Party Hearty which is pretty much the ultimate Holiday glitter. To finish it all off I used Two coats of Hard Candy Mattely in Love because matte glitter is cool :D lol. Freaking love this!!

Here is the marble pre glitter. Here I had only applied a coat of INM Northern Lights.
I hope all of those celebrating today have a wonderful Holiday and all those warm fuzzy sentiments and such lol.

Merry Christmas!!

31 Day Challenge! Day 22- Inspired by a Song

Happy Halloween!!

I hope every had a safe and fun Halloween weekend... How lame is it that it's on a Monday... Anywho, today the list calls for nails inspired by a song. Funny story as to how I came about my choice in song. I couldn't even begin to figure out which song I wanted to base this mani off of.... This past Saturday I went to this Marching Band thing because my brother plays for his High School band... This song of part of their very awesome program...
Get it? Get it?!! Hahaha It's "What's This?" from Nightmare Before Christmas!! This mani was beyond frustrating to work on.... IDK why but it took me forever and I had to re-do several nails... Several times. The hardest was Jack Skellington because I can't really freehand. I won't list all the stuff I used because this is pretty much left open for interpretation lol.

Just for shiggles!
I wonder what Sam and Rie picked! Don't forget to check out Sam and Rie's blogs to see their Song nails!

Now go get some candeh!!

31 Day Challenge! Day 9- Rainbow Nails

Good Morning Loves!!

Welcome to day Eight of the challenge. Today's task was Rainbow Nails! I had a million ideas swirling through my head. Honestly I could not decide at all what I wanted to do. Then.. I remembered that I have to change these again tomorrow (LOL) so I kept it simple but fun.
I went with an altered Rainbow scheme. I wanted it to be almost neon-y and really eye catching. For the dots I used my Born Pretty dotting tools. I wont list the color cause I'm lazy (pic below) but as my base I used China Glaze White on White. To make things more colorful I've also included a pic of the colors I used for the dotting. To top it off I did a coat of SV followed by a coat of INM Northern Lights.

This was really fun to work on because the colors were so pretty to look at!
So! Don't forget to check out Sam and Rie's blogs to see their Rainbow nails!

31 Day Challenge! Day 4- Green Nails Double Feature

Hi loves!!!

Welcome to day Four of the challenge. Today's color is one of my favorites... GREEN!! I just love Green as a color in general. I'd say Green is my favorite color. It's calming to me and reminds me of the outdoors.  I kept today's look simple but I really like how it turned out. I'm no dotting wiz but practice makes perfect, right?
So this was my first shot at the Ombre mani and I really like the look. I had such a hard time choosing my Five colors. The transition between Greens isn't exactly smooth but I do like how they all look together. I kept things simple by just doing some cute dotting. I smudged my pinkie dots a little but I was too lazy to go back and fix it :( lol.

Here is a pic of my base colors. From Thumb to Pinkie: Bettina #194, O.P.I Jade is the New Black, Misa Dirty, Sexy Money, O.P.I Mermaid's Tears and China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint. All were Two coats.

And just for reference here is a pic of the colors :D.

Now for a bonus look. This is Nicole By O.P.I Green Up Your Act! with accent nails in O.P.I Spark du Triomph. I had already been wearing this for a few days before I took pics which is why it looks a little crappy but this is such a good combo.
Don't forget to check out Sam and Rie's blogs to see their Green nails!

Tomorrow will be a true Challenge.. How am I supposed to pick a Blue polish!!? Hahah I have sooooo many Blues!

31 Day Challenge! Day 1- Red Nails

Hi loves!!!

So today starts the 31 Day Challenge here at LTHP. Like I said yesterday the lovely Sam and Rie will be joining me and together we shall conquer this beast of a challenge! Don't forget to stop by their blogs as well to see what they've come up with!!

So day One is Red Nails and this is my look.
So I started with a base of Three coats of China Glaze Phat Santa. Then to give it some texture I stamped using Konad plate M57 with China Glaze Long Kiss. I wanted a little bit of sparkle so I sponged just the smallest bit of Orly Star Spangled on the tips.

Here is a swatch of my base color Phat Santa. This is my favorite Red ever. It's not too bright or too vampy. IDK what it is but it's just the perfect Red shade for my skin tone I guess. I also love the formula on this color and how smoothly it glides. This is Three coats and no top coat.

  I <3<3<3 this so hard!!!
I'm really excited for this challenege and I know doing it with the support of two of my favorite bloggers will make it so much more fun!! Make sure to check their blogs out too to see, what are definitely to be, some amazing nails by Rie and Sam!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Best Friend's Wedding Series: Part 5

Hi loves!

It's been a while since I've done one of these! I have a few ideas in mind I've just honestly been lazy and down lately... I hate to come off like I'm making excuses but the truth is I'm feeling just a litle burnt out lately.... So anywho I got this idea and I honestly think this will be a lot easier to do on someone else. I think I would definitely alter the moon base color to something a little more dense.
So for this look I started with a base of Three coats of China Glaze White Cap. I then sponged with O.P.I Pink Flamenco and Zoya Raven. I debated adding a stamp but I thought with the rhinestones and the sponging there was already enough going on. I think it's a pretty look but I don't think it's bride worthy :(. I think my next idea will be better....

Here is a swatch of White Cap. This color is just so lovely and it photographs amazingly well. Just agelic! Three coats.

And it's lovely in the Sun!

Pink Wednesday!! China Glaze Strawberry Fields Golden Gradient and a Sponging Tutorial

Hi loves and happy Pink Wednesday!

For today I decided to revisit one of my very favorite Pinks. For some reason I've only worn it once before and that's a shame because Strawberry Fields is just soo pretty and classic! I think just about everyone is familiar with this color because it's just so special and China Glaze at it's shimmery best!
So for this simple look I started with Two coats of Strawberry Fields and then I sponged the tips with China Glaze's Midnight Kiss. I really love how the Golden sparkle in Midnight Kiss blends into the sparkle in Strawberry Fields. I love how simple this look is but it really makes a statement.

And here is Strawberry Fields on her own. Do I need to say much or should I just let the pics do the talking?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

And [HERE] is a tutorial on how I did this look. Also!! I got a new camera to be able to do proper tutorials soon!!

Happy Pink Wednesday and thanks for stopping by!

China Glaze Brownstone + Midtown Magic Sponged Gradient

Hi loves!

Today I have a really different combo. I don't usually rock the browns but today I was feeling adventurous. Also, today is the last day with this style of picture. My nub has grown out enough to go back to my straight on shot. I miss it and it really shows the detail of the designs better. Maybe I'll do a mix of both styles of photos who knows... Ugh I'm being so fickle about this lol. I think I'm just going to stick to my old style. A lot of you expressed your missing of the old style and I miss it too!!!

So for this simple look I did Two coats of Brownstone as my base and then I sponged the tips with Midtown Magic. The contrast is very subtle but the sparkle on the tips really made this a rich look.

Here is a swatch of Brownstone. This is such an odd color. It's Brown, it's Red... It's Maroon? It's a creme and it applies really well. I don't know how often I will wear this because Brown and I ... We just don't mesh well. I think this is one of the more interesting Browns released this Fall.
That is it for today :). Short and Sweet! Oh! Have you entered my giveaway yet?

Muffin Monday!! China Glaze Papaya Punch- Kitteh Pics and my First Freehand Nail Art!!

Happy Muffin Monday!!!

Muffin missed you guys last week!! Anyways I am so glad to be on time this week!! Yaay!! Today I have a Kitty- full post!!
She was so smitten with the color that she played with the bottle for like 10 minutes lool!  She would rub herself all over it and paw at it.. It was SOOOO CUTE!!!

She picked one of my favorite releases from this Summer, Papaya Punch. This color was also my first venture into Orange nail polish. OHH AND.. ANDDDD... I did freehand for the first time ever for this post. It was so much fun!
Fiyah!!!!!! For the flames I used CG Solar Power and  Phat Santa. I did the flames just using a small detail brush. I found this brush pack at Wal Mart in the craft section and they were perfect.

Here is a re-swatch of Papaya Punch. Almost neon, candy corn Orange. This is Two coats. I really love this color!

And because it's been a while here is a picture of my princess Truffle. She likes to keep me company in the polish room. Whenever I am taking my pictures she always lays right by my side. Sometimes she even gets in the way lol. Muffin likes to hang out with Mr. LTHP in his office and Truffle likes to hang out with me in mine :).
Happy Kitty Monday!!!

China Glaze Urban Night

Hi loves!!

Today I have a simple mani. I went back to one of my favorite combinations. Purple and Graphite. Since I am rocking the shorties this colo really was singing to me. You guys know how much I love vampy or darker shades when my nails are short. IDK why that is but I just love the look of short, dark nails.
So I kept it super simple and just went with one of my all time favorite stamps from the old Bundle Monster set, plate BM20. For the stamping I used CG Avalanche. I kept that color with the purpose of stamping only becuse I hate how frosty it is.. BUT it works, and looks amazing when used for stamping.

And this is Urban Night all on it's own. It's a pretty, Plummy Purple creme. Nothing terribly unique. Well, it is actually unique in my collection. But you guys know what I mean right.. Anywho, I like it and it is a great Fall color. It is flattering and Purple so a lot of people will be able to pull this pretty off. It's a great classic, core color to have. I don't know how it compares to any of the other Purple cremes released this Fall.
What are your thoughts on Urban Night?

My Picks from the China Glaze Metro Collection

Hi my lovelies!!

I know I promised you guys a Muffin Monday today but I've been feeling like poop all day long and have spent most of it sleeping, like a cat. My meds really do a number on me sometimes. I still have her pick so I will use it for next Monday. I didn't want to leave you guys hanging completely so instead please enjoy my picks from the China Glaze Metro Collection. Thank goodness I did some swatching over the weekend. This collection had a lot of pretty colors but I cut them down to my top Three picks.
Westside Warrior. What I will consider to be the best Green to come out this Fall. Honestly. It's Army Green, it's creme, it has a flawless formula and it is incredibly flattering. I don't know what it is about this particular Green that has me so drawn to it but I really love that it is a nice, clean Army green. There has been a lot of smokiness and dirty colors this Fall so I'm happy to see CG make their colors a little brighter and cleaner. This does dry slightly darker on the nail than the color in the bottle. Nothing too severe.

Midtown Magic is magical... I don't really care for Brown but the second I saw this beauty in swatches and in person I had to have it. It is a deep Brown jelly base with the most amazing Golden/ Green duochrome micro shimmer. This is so sexy and sophisticated. Another stunner from this collection and a total must have. This was Two easy coats.

And finally Trendsetter. This is such an interesting and unique color. It's a murky Yellow with quite a bit of Green in it and a Golden shimmer that ties it all together. This was not the best color on me but try and keep me from wearing this again. I had to have it if only for how unique it is. I can honestly say I don't own anything like this shade. The formula on this color is amazing as well, two coats.

I am so happy with my picks from this group. They are really some of my favorites to come out this Fall and I love that they did give us some sparkle. Now I'm ready for all the Holiday glitters to start coming our way. This Fall was entirely too sparkle-less.

Which ones did you pick up from the Metro Collection? ANNND have you entered my giveaway?

Muffin Monday!! China Glaze Sea Spray Gradient ♥

Happy Muffin Monday!

Today I have yet another color that was long overdue for it's own post. Sea Spray came from their Spring Anchors Away Collection. I've worn it once... I should have worn it about a millions times before... Anyways, here is what I ended up with :).
So there is quite a bit going on for this mani. I started with a base of Two coats of Sea Spray. This, BTW, is an all China Glaze mani. After letting my base dry I sponged with Shower Together and then sponged the tips with White on White. After that was all done I went back and sponged just a bit of White Cap over the whole gradient to give the look some sparkle. For the sponging I used a piece of make up wedge. To finalize the look I used plate BM201 and Rodeo Fanatic for the stamp and one coat of Seche Vite.

This is what the sponging looked like before I added the White Cap sponging. I really loved this look as well.

I would never forget a pic of Muffin! ♥

And here is a swatch of Sea Spray. A beautiful, very soft Greyed-out Blue pearly creme... The shimmer is very soft and really only comes out in Sunlight. This color has a little bit of a tricky formula. It is very pigmented and a little sticky and thick. Not tooooo terrible but it does take a patient and steady hand.
Isn't this such a lovely color? I have to say this is one of my top picks from the Spring 2011 collections. I think it's a great color for any season and any skin tone. It's just so pretty!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I sure did! Got my first massage and everything!

Pink Wednesday!! China Glaze Pink Sponge Gradient

Hi loves and happy late Pink Wednesday!

Today I got a little creative and decided to do a spongy gradient with all China Glaze Pinks. Pictures first and then I'll blab :)!

So for my base I used Three coats of Innocence and then I sponged it with Empowerment (which I am holding in the pic above) and at the very tips I used Rich and Famous. For the stamp I used plate BM221 and Konad Pink special polish. Then for good measure I added my new obsession, INM's Northern Lights top coat which gave it just the right amount of sparkle. For the sponging I used a make-up wedge.

Here is a swatch of CG's Innocence. Three coats, no top coat.

Sorry for the late post. But hey at least I made it to the party lool!!
