Muffin Monday!! Bettina Green Apple

Happy Muffin Monday!!

Today Muffin picked me one of my very first Bettina's. This one came from a package my bestie sent me to introduce me to the brand and it has been one of my Bettina favorites ever since...

I ♥ ♥ ♥ this color and finished look :)!
I had been wanting to use this Konad M66 plate for ever and just could not come up with a good idea... The second Muffin picked this color it just hit me. I had to do a multi colored bamboo "print" nail. For the stamping I used Bettina's Mojito and  Art Deco Brown. This is one of my favorite looks ever. It's so tropical and Summery.

And here is a swatch of Candy Green Apple. This color makes me smile. It's the perfect "Mountain Dew Green" polish. I also love the application on this baby. I only need two effortless coats to achieve this kind of coverage. It is not streaky or draggy. Here I have two coats and SV.
Today is my first day back at work... Wish me and my nails luck...

Just a reminder of Bettina purchases!!! Lovelies wanting information of pricing, shipping and purchasing Bettina polishes please shoot an email to janetmrosado@gmail.com (Rosama Distributors-authorized distributors Bettina cosmetics). FREE SHIPPING for over 6 enamels.

Happy Muffin Monday!

My Best Friend's Wedding Series: Part 3

Hello!

Today I have another design idea to add to my [series] of manis dedicated to my best friends wedding. For this look I tried something I had never tried before. A half moon mani. I like how this turned out but it is definetely a look I would have to practice several times in order to get it to look as crisp as I would like.
For the half moon mani I followed [THIS] tutorial by PlasmaSpeedo. It made the process very simple and I really like the end result. I had a mishap with the bow stamp because I was using the Silver chrome pen by Sally Hansen. Those dry insanely fast and the design didn't transfer properly. The polka dot stamp is from plate BM19 and I used Konad Black special polish. The White is Zoya's Purity and the color I'm holding and on my tips is Essie's Jam 'n' Jelly, which I recently featured. I also think in the future if I retry this design I may do a different configuration of the colors or do a Black glitter stripe instead of Silver. This is not as crisp as I would like it to be but with practice I think this look could be a real winner. From a distance it looks amazing!

Happy Sunday!

Essie Tart Deco + Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow

Hi loves!!

Today I have a super pretty combo. I know I just recently did a Peachy- Gold- Red mani but this one has a little something special going on... Deborah Lippmann's Boom Boom Pow. This had been a long time lemming of mine that I never thought would actually make it to my collection. I got these two pretties in my recent Apothica haul.
So for this I sponged Boom Boom Pow over Essie's Tart Deco. Then I stamped using this pretty flower design from Konad Plated M9 in Konad Red special polish. Just for fun after it was all said and done I decided it needed a rhinestone and that pulled the whole look together for me.
Now I know Boom Boom Pow is steep at $20 a pop but I have the kind people of Apothica to thank for a sponsorship that allowed me to get a lot of Essie pretties along with this Golden stunner. BBP is full of WIN. I love all the different sized glitters in it and I love the super micro fine glitter that floats in the clear base. I also love that it is a true, bright Gold. According to the Deborah Lippmann website there is 24k Gold powder in this. I assume they mean the micro fine particles that float in the clear base giving it a Golden- cloudy look. This is just amazing and I can't wait to layer it over everything.

Essie's Tart Deco is a beautiful bright Peachy creme. The formula for this was slightly annoying. It was just a tad streaky but not too terrible. For this I used Three coats of color.
And there you have one of my favorite manis to date! I am so in love with Boom Boom Pow and Tart Deco as well. Tart deco is Summer perfection and so flattering. I am so happy to finally have some Essie's I can get excited about in my collection. I could not be more pleased with Boom Boom Pow. I mean just look at it!! It's amazing.

Muffin Monday!! Zoya Jo

Happy Muffin Monday!

This week the selection process went a bit more like this...
... and then some of this happened.... So since Jo was the color they knocked down (and Mr. LTHP liked it too) I decided to go with her.

Zoya's Jo had been a lemming of mine since I started blogging. For some reason I never got around to buying it and thought I would never get it. Well a Fairy smiled upon me and this made it to my collection.
For the Sapphire necklace and feathers design I used Konad plate M77 and Zoya's Ibiza. It's a simple look but it seems that I'm into this simple- clean thing lately. Plus, I didn't want to overdo it when the color itself is so delicate.

Jo is an amazing Periwinkle Blue shimmer. I don't know if it was just mine, but the formula was just a bit thick on this one. Not problematic as it evens out nicely and is opaque at Two coats. The color itself is very "soothing" almost. This is an older Zoya color but this shade is back in for the Summer. I love that it shimmers like crazy and doesn't even need to be in Sunlight for the pretty sparkle to come out. This is a great classic color that is easy to wear and if you love Blues then you will love Jo.

Thoughts on Jo?

My Best Friend's Wedding Series: Pt. 1

Hi my lovely gals (and boys too :),

I was re-organizing my stash recently and came across NOPI's Take a Stand. An awesome color that made it to my collection thanks to my awesome Mr. LTHP. Well I was sitting there with the funky bottle in my hand and loving the Fuchsia tone of it so much and this idea just hit me for my Besties Wedding nails series. You guys may remember me mentioning that I would be doing her nails on that day as well as the rest of the bridal party so I have two designs to come up with. I also have to convince her that CG For Audrey just HAS to be her pedi color.
Anyhow, she has the best color palette to work with. Black, White, Fuchsia and hints of Silver. Her pattern is polka dots and her accents are bows! How cute is all that? She is going for a mix of traditional and edgy. Some of you may have seen my awesome polka dotted dress and pink heels I'll be wearing as her maid of honor on Twitter. So for this design I went pretty edgy. This could be the brides nails if she's feeling playful of the bridesmaids.
For this first mani in the series I used Take a Stand as my base and stamped polka dots with O.P.I Black Onyx (wanted to used Konad SP Black but it's such a pain to clean up sometimes and I didn't want to ruin this mani) from plate BM19 out of the original BM set. I find that this is also less "severe". Then I added bows in Konad SP White to my Ring Finger and Thumbs from Konad plate M59. I think a Pink or Black rhinestone would also be cute in the center of the bows for this.

For fun here is some swatches of NOPI Take a Stand. I looooove this color so much!
I really ended up loving this look. I would wear this any day lol. I'm going to be doing a lot of designs for this so I hope you are up to the task of picking my dear sister!! haha! But, I am so excited!! I'll be working on some traditional nails, some edgy, some girly, some simple and all that jazz.

Thanks for stopping by and happy Saturday!!

China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out

Holos make me happy!

Today I have another beauty from my [swap] with Gilded Nails. This is a color I didn't know I wanted :). The second I saw it I was in love. This color is so pretty. It is a holo so by default it is amazing but it is also a pretty shade of Blue.
So Kaleidoscope Him Out is a pretty light Blue holo. As you can see it's not quite linear, not quite scattered, but somewhere in between. Indoors this color looks close to Milani's Cyberspace except the sparkle is much finer in KHO. The formula for this color is great. Very easy tow work with and only slightly sheer. For this mani I used Three coats. For this one adding a top coat doesn't change the holo effect. I'm interested in seeing this layered over darker Blues and Black. I bet it's even more beautiful. This is from CG's Let's do it in 3D collection.

Thanks for stopping by :)

O.P.I Pirates Week - On Stranger Tides & Silver Shatter

Hello my darlings!!

I'm sorry this post is another late one but I have been playing catch- up all day long today. Things will be back to normal around here tomorrow. SO! I have decided it is time to do another themed week! I have chosen to dedicate this one to O.P.I. I have to take back every single thing I said about the Pirates of the Caribean Collection lol. I will gladly swallow my words of disappointment. Once I realized this was an extension of the Brights Group I could see the cohesiveness and inspirations behind them and have really grown to LOVE this collection.

I really wanted to feature each color separately because I came back from Ohio with a Million ideas for each individual color in this collection. The whole "pirates and mermaids and sea life" theme has inspired me and truth is I really missed coming up with ideas brought on by the colors, names and themes of collections. So instead of a swatch post I decided to do another O.P.I themed week. I hope you guys enjoy my manis. At the end of the week I will do a recap of all the colors and will give you my final thoughts on the collection. For now please enjoy the upcoming manis :)

I wanted to start with the namesake of the collection On Stranger Tides. This is possibly my favorite color from this collection. This is a lovely light murky sage Green creme. It's gritty, it's dirty and I am smitten with this color. It manages to be flattering and Springy even though it has a certain muted quality about it. The formula on this was so creamy smooth and easy to work with. This was Two coats. For this one I wanted to emmulate, What else? But Murky Waters with the stamping and really ended up loving this simple look.

And here is On Stranger Tides with Silver Shatter on top. How awesome is Silver Shatter? For this I used a slightly thick coat and just let it work it's magic. There isn't a huge contrast between the Two colors but in person it is really very lovely. Silver Shatter is quickly becoming my favorite out of any shatter/crackle polish I own. This pic was taken Pre- top coat because I really love how Silver Shatter dries.

And there you have the first of a series of manis inspired by the O.P.I Brights: Pirates of the Caribean Collection. I'm so excited to show you guys this collection now that I have my head on straight about it lol. O.P.I has this ability to create colors that creep up on me and I always end up loving everything they do. Yes, even (most) of the Texas Collection haha.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am! I'm so in love with these and so happy to be back to doing my thing!

American Eagle Nail Polishes

Hello lovelies,

So over the weekend my mommy, a friend of ours and myself went on a little (much deserved) girls day out at the mall. It was great , I always have the best time with my mom. We're "like this" *crosses fingers* lol. So anyways, while there I made a pit stop for some much needed new jeans. Truth is that no jeans fit me like American Eagle jeans. So while I was headed for the checkout this huge bowl of nail polishes caught my eye. They had a few neons and the colors I'm about to show you today. They are so cute. I love the bottles (they hold a little less than a Hard Candy bottle).

So these pretties are un-named. I would call 90 Miles to Cuba. I know that's a bit obscure but basically from Key West, FL to Cuba it's 90 miles. This color reminds me of Key West beach water. But I didn't want to come up with something so obvious lol. Key West beach water is literally this exact shade of Turquiose. Just stunning. The shimmer in this so perfectly captures that essence of Key West. The formula for this was a BITCH. It was like that of a neon. You know? Where it is streaky and likes to drag. This was Three patient coats and I will say that it is so worth it. The final product is a beautiful and calming creamy Turquiose shimmer.

And this one I couldn't think of anything cool so I'm just gonna call it Coral Bits. This one is a Coral-y- Red. Sooo pretty. I'm not sure how I chose this over the pretty neons but something about the juiciness of this color was speaking to me. Not quite Red, not quite Coral but something in-between. This one unlike 90 miles to Cuba has a dreamy formula. It borders on being jelly like and it is super easy to work. This was two coats.
For last minute little impulse buys I am super happy with these cuties. I am willing to get over the fact that the Turquiose shade has a crappy formula because I managed to solve the issue in Three coats and the color payoff is so worth it. I am also really loving the Coral shade because it is so perfect for the coming summer months.

What do you think? Will you be checking your AE's for polishes?

Pink Wednesday!! China Glaze Rich and Famous

Hello Pink lovers!

For today I went with a suggestion from one of mah lovelies. This is the awesome Rich and Famous by China Glaze. I really wanted to do something really girly and cute for this one to go along with the name of the polish. I am loving these two Konad plates (M59,77). They have the cutest stamps. I really love the one with the big bows. Also, today I achieved my goal of swatching my entire collection. All of it. All 315 colors. Yes, that's right... As one of my twitter pals put it... "Is that like reaching the end of the Internet?" Now this doesn't mean they have all been blogged but they have all been worn in one way or another. Now I feel like I can go back an wear colors again lol. I'll be throwing some swatches your way these coming days. I hope you guys like :).
I have featured this pretty before but I'll give you the nutshell blurb about this polish. It is an awesome Barbie Pink creme that applies like a dream. This is Two coats of color. It's not terribly unique but it's bright and bold, so I like it :). I really love the stamps on this one!

Also, just one more day left to vote in the Bundle Monster constest! Please take a sec and check my entry out? You can vote for it by clicking on the picture on the top of the right side-bar. Please haaalp me!

Happy hump day!

Muffin Monday!! ...of Indecision

So...

Muffin was not having any of it this week haha. We tried several different color combinations and she just wasn't feeling up to the task of picking a color. In the end this is what we got...
Since she wasn't going to pick me a color my hubby made a comment that I should use the Brown shade because it would be a challenge since I don't wear Brown... EVER. Not in my clothing, not my shoes or accessories... So I did just that and went with Bettina's Art Deco Brown.
The name says it all. Brown is a true Brown creme. This you see here is ONE coat. This went on like rich dark chocolaty fudge... Am I making you hungry yet? The formula could not have been better or easier to work with. I like that the shade remains Brown in most lighting. This color is so perfect for Fall. I ended up really liking the finished mani with the Leopard stamping using Essence Just in Case.

Happy Muffin Monday of  Indecision!

Bettina Candy Grape and Marshmallow (plus some other pretties)

Morning ladies (and guys?),

Today I have two more colors from the Bettina Candy Collection. Don't worry I'll be posting pictures of all the colors together at the end of the post so you guys can see how pretty these colors are together. I am only missing one color from this group which looks like a light Coral-y -Pink called Sherbet. Anyhow, </endrant> Onto some pretty color!

These are Candy Grape and Marshmallow. I'll start with Grape, which is the lovely vivid Periwinkle Blue creme. Think of something along the lines of CG Secret Peri-wink-le but not dusty at all. The formula on this baby is amazing! Could have easily been one coat but I did my usual Two. Marshmallow is the lovely Yellow-y-White creme. I am loooving this. Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on Illamasqua's Load (tee hee) but this reminds me of it. It has just the slightest hint of Yellow to take it out of the stark White territory. Again the formula for this was a dream, a smooth Two coats.
Grape and Marshmallow
And here is the rest of the Colors and what I did with them:

Green Apple
Cotton Candy
Peppermint
So, this group is probably one of my favorites from Bettina. The colors are all so pretty and happy. I could not choose a favorite from this collection. The formula on all of them is beyond excellent. Also, for those of you who are interested in trying Bettina you can contact them @ info@bettinacosmetics.com
My contact told me to share this address and hopefully something can be worked out as far as my U.S lovelies being able to purchase them direct from Bettina.

If you'd like to see their colors you can visit their website: http://www.bettinacosmetics.com/esmaltes.html. You can visit my Bettina Label to see swatches of the colors I have. However, I still have quite a few more colors to go because the lovely people at Bettina were amazing to me and sent me a huge package with most of my wishlist. In May they will be visiting the Miami Beauty Show and if all goes well I will be ther to meet these lovely ladies in person and hopefully they will have some good news for us U.S girls!

Which one is your fave?
