#NailArtFeb Californails Challenge Day 25: Simple

(**Press Samples**)
Hello my beauties an happy Humpday!

Today I want to share my look for day 25 of the Californails "Totally Doable- I have a life Challenge". The prompt for day 25 is to do a simple look. Since I have been so enamored with the O.P.I Brazil collection for Spring-Summer 2014, I decided to use some of those shades. O.P.I knocked it out of the park with this collection. The colors compliment each other perfectly. I brought a few of them together for this scotch tape mani.
Simple photo DSCN7197_zps88e43c46.jpg
For this look I started with a base of Taupe-less Beach. Once my base was dry I used scotch tape to create uneven horizontal halves. I painted the exposed portions of my nails with I Just can't Cope-Acabana. This shade was a lovely surprise. For a Yellow creme, it has an amazing formulation.
Once my halves were dry enough I used some more tape to create some complementing "side panels". On my pinkie I used Amazon Amazoff, which is an amazing shade of rick Peacock Teal. On my Ring finger I used Live.Love.Carnival, which is a lovely shade of rich and vibrant coral. On my middle nail I did accents in Red Hot Rio, which is a classic shade of deep Ruby Red crelly. For my Index I used Where did Suzi's Man-go?, this shade is also used on my middle nail. I finished the whole look off with a generous layer of top coat.

I really adore this look. Sometimes simplicity can be so striking and fun. I had forgotten how effective scotch tape is for creating cool manis in a pinch. I feel like I have to say it again.... The O.P.I Brazil collection has my heart. I am so madly in love with the variety of this collection. There really is a shade for many different tastes.
The next, and final, prompt is to do Galaxies. I am PUMPED on that prompt. As much as I love galaxy manicures... I've only done Three on myself. So, this challenge giving an excuse to do one makes me very happy.

When it doubt... Wax ALL the Things! Wax That... by Cult Nails

(**Press Samples**)
Happy Humpday!

Today I have a quick spammy post. Ever since Cult Nails released their Wax finish top coat, Wax That... I've been putting it over just about everything. I am mad about the effect it creates, it is also a quick way to update my manis when I am feeling lazy and don't want to change my polish. So here are a few looks that I ... Waxed lol... Just one coat of Wax That was done over all these.

Cult Nails Love at First Sight waxed.

Milani Almond Bliss and Cirque Electric Circus waxed.

 Cult Nails Let's Get Dirty
CN Lets get dirty photo DSCN5782_zps672f2f4c.jpg
Let's get Dirty is a beautiful shade of muted Taupe which dries to this wax finish on its own and does not need a top coat to achieve this finish. There is also a slight, subtle shimmer to this delicate Taupe shade. It has a fantastic formula and does great in Two coats. It dries fairly quick, but do proceed with caution after application.

I love this top coat because of the finish it creates, but also because it dries quickly. I hate matte top coats that take their sweet time to dry and then you end up with a ruined mani. That was not the case with Wax That... Can you tell I love how glitters look "waxed"? I also love it over cremes and jellies, but over glitters and shimmers it creates some serious badassery.

Did you pick up Wax That and have you found any combos that left you speechless? If so, SHARE!!! :D

365 Days of Color! Hocus Pocus Collection Swatches

Good evening!!!

This time around I have a Halloween collection that was released by indie brand 365 Days of Color. This was the very first Halloween Collection to make it into my hands this year. Sadly the surgery and all that non-sense happened shortly after I received these babies and I didn't have a chance to swatch them until recently. I.Feel.Terrible about that. Sunny mentioned that she would be re-stocking this collection on her shop today so thank goodness that they are still available!
This collection was inspired by the Halloween cult classic movie, Hocus Pocus. I remember seeing it only once as a little child and it scared the crapola out of me because I was way too young.. Also.. I didn't speak English at the time so I had no idea what was going on lol! Each color is inspired by an aspect of the movie, which I totally need to get on watching now that I am an English speaking adult lolol!

365 Days of Color I Smell... Children over Pixi Amazing Amethyst
I Smell... Children is a Blackened base full of deep Purple sparkle and smalled Purple hexes. I am fairly certain this color could reach opacity on its own. However! I really wanted the Purple to show through so I decided to layer it over a vivid Purple base to get this amazing, glowing finish on my nails. I did Two coats of I Smell... Children over Pixi Amazing Amethyst.

365 Days of Color Boouk! over Barielle Greenwhich Village
Boouk! was my instant favorite from this collection. This pretty polish is made up of Chocolate hexes, Copper hexes and square Golden glitter accents in a shimmery, light Taupey base. For this look I layered it over a Pinky nude from barielle and then did Two coats of Boouk! This is a beautiful glitter and also perfect for Fall.

365 Days of Color Black Flame Candle
Black Flame Candle is a sheer shimmery Black. This might actually do better layered over an opaque Black creme. What you see here is Four coats of Black Flame Candle. It is a really beautiful shade of shimmery Black. The shimmer seems to shift from Pink to Violet to Teal. Formula-wise it is sheer but buildable, next time I will definitely layer it so it lasts longer.

365 Days of Color Come Little Children over Barielle One Shade of Gray
Come Little Children is a mix of small Red and Black hex glitters suspended in a clear base. The density of the glitter makes it a perfect layering polish. I am absolutely in lurrrrve with this combination of the Gray base with the Black and red touches.

365 Days of Color I Put a Spell on You over OPI A Rose from the Dead
I Put a Spell on You is another perfect layering glitter polish. This pretty is made up Emerald Green hexes in varying sizes and small touches of Black glitter. LOOOOOVE it over this Pink base. It's an unexpected combination but it works so well!

And there you have 365 Days of Color Hocus Pocus inspired Collection for Halloween 2012! Don't forget to check 365 Days of Color Shop to get your favorites! Hurry before they are all gone.

Which are your faves? Mine are Boouk!, I put a Spell on You  and I smell... Children.

Good Morning loves!!

Today I will be showing you Three shades from Milani's new Spring 2012 Line-up. I actually have a mini- Milani series coming your way. These shades are staple colors. They are really pretty but for me, a bit safe. Of course in every new line-up of colors you have to have your standard colors. I am vowing as of now to give my Milani's more love. Every time I wear a Milani polish I remember how awesome their polishes are....

Zoya Dree and Zoya Jana

Hi loves!! Happy Friday!

Today I have two of the colors from Zoya's newest Fall collections. I decided I love these colors too much too just swatch them and have been working my way slowly through them and actually wearing them *gasp*. So I will be showing you guys the Smoke and Mirrors collections slowly but surely and when I have worn them all I will do collection recap posts for those of you who love seeing them all together.

I got started with Jana. The reason I picked this colors is because it seemed like the "least exciting". I was wrong. While it is a basic fall color it has that certain something that makes it special. This smokey Mauvey/Taupe is just uber flattering. I wore this baby for Two days. I know that doesn't sound like a long time but in Cristina time, that is a long time ;). I had absolutely no desire to take Jana off but another beauty was calling to me. This color has a typical Zoya- greatness formula that covers perfectly in two smooth coats. The color is slightly darker once dry on the nail. I think a pedi in Jana is in order....

And then there was Dree. OMG this color is just !!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!...  It's dirty, it's unique and I freaking love it. It's not just Olive, it's a smokey, dirty Olive with a little bit of Yellow. Last year Zoya gave us Shawn, this year we have Dree. Can we agree that Zoya knows how to make amazing Greens?! Not to mention Yara, who I cannot wait to wear. This one also dries slightly darker on the nail and it also has a great Two -coat formula.
I am very excited to wear the rest of the pretties in this collection. I think next I will be covering some of the Mirrors collection colors. I haven't really had time to think up ideas for nail art and I'm feeling kinda bad because I know a lot of you guys come to LTHP for some funky stuff and lately I've been doing a lot of swatches but I've just been crazy busy and stressed and I don't want to stop blogging completely so I've just been swatching like mad. I'm also still working on planning a giveaway for my Blog-a-versary which is coming up pretty soon.

Happy Friday! ready for the weekend? I sure am...
♥ Cristina

Ulta 3 Twilight Fever

Hi lovelies,

So before we get to the polish I have to tell you guys this will be my only post this week. If you follow me on Twitter of Facebook you may or may not know I will be traveling this week to see Mr. LTHP. This will also be a trip to see out future home state so I am super excited about that. Basically, the last thing on my mind will be blogging ad nail polish lol. I will be randomly tweeting so I won't be completely out but I won't be posting again until next Monday, maybe Tuesday. Also for the lovelies who have awarded me with the Kreativ Blogger award I will be doing it as soon as I get back :)!

So, onto some polish. Ulta 3's Twilight Fever is a dupe of our beloved Chanel Paradoxal or Revlon Perplex. The shimmer in this seems a bit more present than the shimmer in Perplex. I'll have to sit down and compare them at some point. The formula is the shiz! I could have gotten away with one coat but I did two. The stamping was done using Virtual Violet from China Glaze. I wanted a very, very subtle look that complimented the pretty Purple tones in this polish. I'm crazy about this simple clean mani. I can't wait to see it in full Sunlight.
This is a lovely color and I cant get enough of these types of shades. I'll be more than happy to wear this all week. I'll let you guys know how it wears once I get back :).

See you in about a week :)

Swap with Gilded Nails ♥ + Essie Demure Vixen

Yaaaay!

I'm so excited about this swap! This bundle of awesome came to me all the way from Australia thanks for the lovely Carina from Gilded Nails. This was my first international swap so I was super stoked to see what international pretties would come my way. I left the choices entirely up to Carina who picked me some beautiful and unique colors.

She also included for me some Aussie goodies (I've already had a caramel Koala which was super yum!), a pretty nail file and some M.A.C pigments. I'm super excited about the pigments because I've never tried ANY M.A.C makeup.
And there you have it!! Look at them goodies! Why is that a bottle of Kaleidoscope Him Out and Wagon Trail by China Glaze there? Why, YES! Yes it is! Can you believe her? She also sent me two of the BYS polishes from the Alice in Wonderland Collection they did which had some incredible glitters.

So why did I choose to start with Essie's Demure Vixen when all these new and International goodies were waiting for me? I had literally been pondering buying Demure Vixen the same day the package came so I figured it was fate and decided to wear it first.

Demure Vixen is one of those lovely Mauve-y/ Taupey- Violet shades we love so much but toned waaay down. I am so madly in love with this color. It's soft and delicate but present. As in the color does not get washed out by skin tone or visa-versa. The formula was great. For this I used Three coats of Demure Vixen. This is also my very first Essie I've ever tried. I liked it.
And how cute is it with the swirly stamp? This is the first mani I've done in a while that I loooved. I love the simplicity and cleanliness of it. I am so into these Nude shades lately and this one really does it for me!

A big Thank you to Carina again. I almost cried tears of joy as I was unwrapping each little bottle.

Some Ulta Swatches

Hello lovelies!

Today I have some swatches of Three ULTA Pro's I got recently. The display was so empty and pathetic looking but somehow these Three colors managed to catch my eye.

Up first is Twilight. This is a dark shimmery Taupe. In the bottle for some reason it looked a bit lighter than what it ended up looking like on the nail. I still love it. It is a perfect color for Fall. Even though it's a dark Mocha shade the shimmer in this reflects light enough to light it up beautifully. The formula is great, very good pigmentation and a solid Two coater.

For Bitten. Hahah Get it? Get it?... Cheesy- cute! This is a pretty awesome dark Rusty Brown with a Red/ Copper duochrome shimmer. This is another color that is perfect for Fall. I'm just naturally drawn to these types of shades. I've been trying to venture to more Vampy "grown up" shades. The formula on this was great as well, also a Two coater.

And this is Black Diamond. This is an interesting shade. Even though the name would suggest it's Black, it has a Green/ Coppery duochrome shimmer that makes it look like a Blackened Green. The formula for this one was slightly gluggy but not terribly problematic. This is Two coats.

Overall, I really liked these polishes. The formula is great. I found the brush to be too round. Does that make sense? I could never really find a side where it would lay slightly flat. The formula was consistent. Also these pictures were taken pre top coat so as you can see they are very, very shiny. I wish I knew how their color selection really is because the day I went they were on sale and the rack had been destroyed! Anywho, I would recommend these if you are curious about them, especially when they go on sale.

Also, You may have heard about a contest Bundle Monster is holding on Facebook where they will be giving away 25 sets of their new plates. I have entered a picture and would really appreaciate if you would check it out and vote (but only if you like it) All you have to do is click (HERE) and leave a comment on the picture. I'm honestly not 100% sure on what is going (as far as voting) on but I encourage my lovelies to check it out and enter and vote!

Thanks for stopping by :)
